Dim Pro bug

Has anyone else had this minor but annoying problem? I have a moderately fast 3 month old Dell computer, running Vista, 3GB RAM, Sonar Home Studio 6 and Dim Pro with the latest patches and updates on both programs. I 've got Vista set to optimize performance and background services. I'm not having any latency problems at all except during the following situation. If I go to play and my mouse pointer is positioned over one of the controls in Dim Pro I get lots of pops and clicks while playing. As soon as I move the mouse off a Dim Pro control surface sound returns to normal. I've also noticed that the popup bubbles that appear in Sonar appear normal but in Dim Pro the bubbles seem to be flickering rapidly so perhaps that is related.

Hi, thanks, that was an interesting idea. I uninstalled the Logitech software that came with my trackball and restarted using just the windows mouse driver but to no avail. My new computer only has USB connections (no ps2) for mouse and keyboard. Thankfully the problem is easy to work around by just moving the mouse away from a control, and it only happens in DimPro and not Sonar.

Thanks I did not know DimPro wasn't officially Vista compatible. I assumed it was since I purchased it in the spring of 2007. I have not had any other problems with DimPro when using it with Vista. :)

The only major problem Ive had with dim pro in vista is the fact that the knobs dont update as you turn them, since this is purely visual its a not a major one for me, but it may be causing the behaviour you see.

You are correct about the knobs not updating correctly in Vista. I have them programmed to knobs on my keyboard so I don't usually look at the on screen knobs but I did notice that issue now that I have DimPro on Vista. Let's hope that a patch comes out to address these minor bugs and it would be great if they added the ability to organize programs right in DimPro (instead of using windows) but that would be another topic...

I wonder if your audio driver shares an IRQ with either the video driver and/or the USB driver. My IBM Thinkpad does, and I have those kinds of problems with it.

Unfortunately, laptop engineers generally gang the IRQ settings for PCMCIA, usb, and other peripherals on a shared IRQ, making for noisy digital audio when using, for instance, PCMCIA IEEE 1394a cards, which is why laptops are generally not recommended for this kind of work.
