Dim Pro crashing a project on launch
To be honest I'd never really used Dim Pro in a project before but I'm digging one of the picked bass sounds and have been using that. It's worked fine in this project for over a week now, but all of a sudden is crashing Sonar on launching. I know it's Dim Pro because I've started in safe mode without it. Is it prone to crashing like this? I've heard people mention certain patches that crash it but I don't think this particular one has been mentioned (simple picked bass or something like that). I'm definitely running the 64 bit version. Just wonder whether I should ditch it altogether and use something else for the bass.

I don't use Dim Pro as often as Kontakt, but still use it quite frequently, and have not had failures with it. What patch are you using? Perhaps I can try to play around with it and see what happens. Bob Bone

Hi Bob, I can't access the instance so I can't be 100% sure of the exact name but it was "simple picked bass" or something like that, in the real basses. I'd been using it for about a week without problem - the only thing that I messed with was an brief experimentation with the in-house distortion, which I then decided against and turned off.

Just a thought - what about nuking the current installation of Dim Pro and installing it over again? That might cure what ails it, as it was working in the past - and it would get you past this particular issue, for the moment. Bob Bone

For now I've reloaded Dim Pro in the project with that same patch and it appears to be launching fine. So I'm hoping it was just some random hiccup. But yeah if it happens again I guess reinstalling Dim Pro is probably the way to go.

It's ironic, but the two VSTi's that I had "trouble" with in X1 and X2 were Rapture and Dim Pro - ironic because they are both Cakewalk plugins. I always had to be a bit more "careful" when using them in a project - while I rarely had crashes, when I did, it inevitably involved one or both in a project. One of the things that has impressed me most about X3 is that both Rapture and Dimpro seem to be well behaved. I have been keeping them open, active in new X3 projects and have yet to have any issue at all. I'm curious though and will take a closer look at the Dim pro basses.
