Dim Pro: separaste AUdio FX for each element?
I s htere a way to apply different FX to each element of Dim Pro, _after_ the signal comes out of Dim Pro? For instance I may want dry distorted amp sim on one element and simple reverb on another element and I want to use SONAR stuff, not Dim Pro stuff. If anyone can point or describe, that's great. But just knowing it can be done and maybe a hint to where to start looking would be fine as well. It would just be nice to know I am not barking up the wrong tree. Any help appreciated.

yeah sure you can, the fx dropdown list applies to each element like the eq does

Scott is correct. If you are trying add effects to the output of Dim Pro, they will apply to the entire aggregate of however many elements you have used for that Dim Pro instance. There is likely a means of adding some Dim-Pro internal effects to each element, but I do not know what effects it may come with, and I never use multiple elements within any instance of Dim Pro. So, my approach to this is that I always just insert a new instance of Dim Pro for any additional Dim Pro sounds I want to have for my project. I sometimes have up to 9 or 10 instances of Dim Pro, depending on the project. I have oodles of memory so it is just not an issue for me to have multiple Dim Pro instances. This approach is easier for my brain, and also it opens up the full compliment of effects that I have in Sonar, instead of only being to use whatever internal effects may come with Dim Pro, as would be the case if trying to apply effects to any of the individual elements. Thanks for the replies guys. It's as I feared. I have been playing around trying to do things like assign an Audio track to each Dim pro element,. but it, as you have just confirmed, does not work. Using a new DP for each new track. Is that not a resource hog? How does it compare to ...SFZ...or other sample player/processors. I realise that DP is king above most of the alternatives, but resource use still worries me.

I have had a dozen or more instances of Dimension Pro in a project and never ran into any issues with resources (for the record, on my old DAW, 6GB RAM etc not the one in my signature) As a sampler / sampler player these days I mostly use Kontakt, which can have up to 32 outs (16 stereo outs). It's not fair however to compair Dim Pro to the much more expensive Kontakt.

Yes, I routinely have at least 5/6 Dim Pro instances in most projects without resource issues.

There should be only one copy of the DimPro progam in memory, it's only its data structures that'll be repeated for each instance and that can't be that much.

@Paul P "There should be only one copy of the DimPro progam in memory, it's only its data structures that'll be repeated for each instance and that can't be that much. " AH...thanks. Clever. I have been doing a bit of reading and had just started reading about that very subject.

So Nick, have you tried loading a project with a couple of Dim Pro instances, and setting effects for the audio tracks as appropriate for each track? Bob Bone
