DimPro install with X1

Anyone having problems withthe Dim Pro install when installing X1?

I have downloaded the full download inc Dim Pro.  I could not get it to install as it kept coming up with an error re the version installed having to be greater than 1.2.  I have 1.2 installed currently but X1 install doesn't think I have...  So I downloaded the on-site 1.5 Dim Pro update and tried to install it like that too...no luck...same issue.

Naturally have not been able to install the 5th part of th einstall...X1 add-ons / goodies.

Anyone else having the same problem?

I installed from DVDs.  Same problem.  I uninstalled 1.2.  Then installed 1.5 from DVD.  OK, but now Sonar won's "find" it.  I can run DimPro as stand alone and works fine.  Getting Sonar to recognize it is on my X1 to-do list.

Also, if you do a search, there is one long thread with more on this.

Seems that Dim Pro 1.2 and 1.5 have different identifiers so that they are seen as different instruments (rather 1.5 having actually replaced 1.2).  You may need to replace the old reference with the new reference in each instance in each project.  I don't know of any other way to do it.

This was the procedure I followed after contacting Cakewalk Technical Support over the issue. Hope it works for you.

    -  Completely un-install Dimension Pro from your computer. This is
normally done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk.
    -  Click the Windows Start button and select Run. At the prompt type
    REGEDIT and click OK.
Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the
    Registry menu, Export Registry File.
Now delete the following Registry keys
(skip any of the keys if they don't exist in your registry)
     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro
     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\dp
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\dp

    -  Now reinstall Dimension Pro and only the VST version.

First install the 1.2 update because it is needed in order to patch
    the 1.5 update.
    http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx?ID=2005302
After installing the 1.2 VST you should be able to properlly update to
    1.5
    http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx?ID=2007013166
    # On the "VST Folder - Browse to where your previously installed VST
plug-ins are located" window, click the [Browse...] button and select
the parent folder that Dimension Pro/LE is installed to. NOTE: Do not
select the Dimension Pro/LE folder itself.
       * The default location Dimension Pro/LE installs to is C:\Program
    Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins
       * For 32-bit Dimension Pro/LE on a 64-bit OS, the default location
    is C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins
       * If you have installed Dimension Pro/LE to a custom location,
select the parent folder that your Dimension Pro/LE plug-in folder is
    installed to
    # Click [OK] and make sure the correct path (see Step 4) is listed
    under VST Folder
    # Click [Next]
    # If you are prompted with a "Browse For Folder - Select the folder
where your VST plug-in is currently installed" window, select the
parent folder that Dimension Pro/LE is installed to. NOTE: Do not
select the Dimension Pro/LE folder itself. This path is the same as in
    Step 4.
    # Click [OK] and then click [Install]

Be aware that 1.5 only runs in VST whereas 1.2 supported DXi and VST. So if, like me, you had originally ticked the DXi and VST options when installing 1.2 your old projects may not work with 1.5 if you had unknowingly called in the DXi version. This has caused me a major headache so I've had to go back to 1.2.

    Hope this helps you.

Soved my Dimension Pro issues easily after much grief.  After installing X1, DP 1.5 would run stand alone but could not be installed as a softsynth nor could I install the DP 1.5 that came with the X1 download.  By going into "regedit" in Vista and locating all (in my case 2 instances) of the old serial number and replacing it with the newly Cakewalk supplied DP serial number everything works!  Both stand alone and vst softsynth work properly as far as I can tell.

Thanks, replaced that with no ill effects yet.  So far X1 has been stable on all of the projects I have run buy it.  Doing a little testing with tracking and MIDI work with softsynths and MIDI work using my kit and Steven Slate drums.  Knock on wood!

Which product key do I put into that registry entry?
I bought the full version of DimPro some time ago and I notice the product key I had with that doesn't match the characters presently in my registry anyway...?  Do I need to register the 1.5 version with the serial number that came on my X1 upgrade disk 3 and use the resulting key in this registry entry?
(Why is all this so ludicrously difficult ?!?!  I'm not a programmer for heaven's sake!!)

    Thanks
