Dimension LE Programs

Is there a way to make a .prog file from an sfz file?

If not, can Dimension Pro read sfz files directly?

Dimension Pro and if I'm not mistaken Dimension LE can both read SFZ files. However, you don't load them from the program browser. You load them by clicking on the box below the name of the preset.

For instance, in the picture below

    Dimension LE Picture

you would click on the name "brass_02.wav" and load the SFZ file from there.

I'm not at my house so I can't confirm that 100%, but it should work. I know for a fact it works in Rapture, and AFAIK they both load the same types of files.

Once you load the SFZ file, you can make tweaks to modify the sound and then save the whole thing as a .prog file.

    Right.

A Dimension program consists of 4 Elements. Each element uses a sample, which can be a number of formats, including wave and SFZ.

But it's certainly practical to make a program file out of a single element, meaning a single SFZ file. Many of the Dimension presets do just that.

Can you save a Program in Dimension LE?

Certainly, Dimension Pro supports saving new programs, but I don't know about Dim LE -- never loaded the program.

Well, I just loaded one of my sfz's, and Dimension didn't recognize one of the opcodes I use in sfz player (gain_cc2=20) which I use to make the sample respond to breath control. Guess I'll stick with sfz for the time being.

Anyone know if Dimension has any opcodes that sfz doesn't recognize?

There are two versions of sfz script: 1 and 2. Some of their opcodes look different. Try "gain_oncc2=20" instead of "gain_cc2=20".

Full list of opcodes including both versions you can find in this book
