Dimension LE vs. PRO

I constantly find loading 32bit Dim LE projects into 64bit Sonar renders Dim LE inoperative.

The same goes for loading 64bit Dim PRO projects into 32bit Sonar.

I would like for Dim PRO to work in 32bit Sonar.

Q1-Is Dim LE only good in 32bit & Dim PRO only good in 64bit?

Q2-Is there both 32 & 64bit versions of each and do I have to install them separately?

Q3-Why doesn't bitbridge work for this?

AFAIK, there are 32 and 64 bit versions of both plug-ins. I have not messed with the LE version in some time. The 32/64 bit option is near the beginning of the install process. DPro and DLE share the same content. Where the samples are stored depends on whether the 32bit or 64bit is installed first. Bitbridge should work if the plug-in is VST. That said, as a rule it is better to run the plug-in designed for the host. Older DPro and DLE were DX format and there is no bridge for DX plug-ins.

    Thanks scook. I'll have to install both 32 & 64s I guess.

Looks like there's no 64bit version of Dimension LE so I'll have to reconfigure all my old 32bit LE projects to PRO before opening them in 64bit Sonar. They do use slightly different multisamples so this won't always be as easy as one might think.

Side Note: Occasionally I'll open a project to find one or more instances of Dimension inoperative. The synth track will show a stereo wave icon instead of a synth icon in X1 but retain the synth icon in X3. The synth will not open when you double click it because Sonar thinks there is no synth to open, even though it's still in the synth rack. If the track was frozen at least it will play the wave clip. Closing a project with frozen dimension tracks may be affecting this.

I thought they were both 1.5 but since you asked I double checked and found LE was 1.3 so I ran the 1.5 update and now have both LE & PRO 64bit versions.

Problem is, even after rescanning the plugins, ALL instances of LE are "not found" when opening older projects so I can't even see what samples I loaded them with.

This is becoming a box inside a box inside a box.... I guess I can revert back to 1.3 (uninstall update or system restore) and jot down all the samples in all the older projects one by one and then run the update again.

This reads more like a transition from DX to VST issue to me. My guess is the old projects are expecting the DX format plug-in. Pretty sure both the old DX and new VST can co-exist. Ultimately you will want to either print the old tracks or convert them to the updated VST synth.

Exactly what I figured. Only after running system recovery to reset everything, I lost my entire antivirus program. Completely vanished!  So I'm currently reinstalling it before I do anything else. The box keeps getting deeper....

My plan is to use the "Replace Synth" option for all the projects before reinstalling the update and hope it works. I just wish it would automatically load the old synth's sample set so I won't have to.

Yeah the transition from DX to VST is not very pleasant. DPro/LE make it more interesting by changing sample formats from wave to flac.

Seems like you have a few Windows bonus gifts as well.

Tell me about it. I have lots of old projects in which I (regrettably) used DXi versions of DimPro, Rapture, Z3ta+ Battery3, B4II, SampleTank and Philharmonic. I wish that there was some automatic way of transitioning.
