Dimension Pro 1.5 and Free Expansions

I recently purchased D-Pro 1.5 and Rapture and had some difficulty registering it, but I finally got it to work running it as an admin.

Anyways, I downloaded the free expansions for D-Pro, but every time I try to install it, it says that my serial number is invalid.  I tried running it as administrator, but to no avail.  I was able to install the expansions to Rapture with no problem, so I don't see what the issue is here unless it has something to do with the expansions not working with Dim-Pro 1.5

I did email tech support regarding this, but I'm not sure how good the support is, so I figured I'd post it here in case any one experienced something similar.  I also did a search for this on the forum, but couldn't find anything specifically related to this issue.

Thanks in advance.

IT COULD BE VERSIONING, OR A DLL PROBLEM. ALOT HAS TO DO WITH THE SEQUENCE ORDER YOU INSTALLED THEM... TRY THE OPPOSITE

Do you mean the order I installed the two VST's or Dimension Pro and the expansions?  I installed Dimension Pro first, then the expansions.

Hey, Glyn...thanks for the help, but I did run across that FAQ and it only talks about where the already installed content is being installed.  I'm getting an invalid serial number message when I try to install the expansions, so it's not letting me install it at all.  I did register the program and everything is functioning properly except the free expansions.

I just encounterd the same problem with the expansion packs. I have Dimension Pro 1.5 download-version running on Windows 7 x64. The expansion packs installers fail due to a missing serial number. DimPro has accepted my serial before and works well.
    Looking forward to a solution...

Same problem here. I bought Rapture and Dimension Pro today.

Rapture's expansion packs installed succesfully, but the serial error displays when I try to install Dimension Pro packs. Dimension Pro itself works just fine.

I too am having the exact same problem. I bought the Dimension Pro and Rapture bundle (And I am LOVING RAPTURE SO MUCH) - had to install Dimension Pro with "Run as Administrator" for it to take my registration key but it is working fine.

I had no problems installing the Rapture bundles but trying to install the Free expansion packs for Dimension Pro results in an invalid serial number!

Does anyone have a solution for this yet?

P.s I'm going to get my wife to call support tomorrow; she's averagely technical so I wish them luck!

    Will do!!

I'm thinking that they have used different serial numbers or some such thing for the October promotion and the algorithm in the code for the expansion pack is freaking out.

I suspect that they are probably getting a programmer to modify it now because when you Google the problem I have encountered Mac users saying that THEIR Dimension Pro Free expansion packs won't install with the same invalid serial number error!!

Well the latest news is that they know about the problem and are working on it and will email people when a fix is in sight. No timescale has been given although the tech person did say it would be "sooner rather than later". Whatever that means!

Thank you for the update, Pokeyoats.

I hate to be negative, but if they already knew about it and haven't fixed it yet, it might be a while before they get to it (despite saying "sooner than later").

Oh well, hopefully the Expansions that are for sale work with Dim-P.

Same issue here, except on Mac OS X 10.5.8. The Dimension Pro Expansion Pack 2 will install fine, but not Expansion Pack 1. Here is the message I get:

"No valid serial number detected.  Please make sure that Dimension Pro or D-Pro has been installed before running this update.

    DPXP1 will not be installed."

Personally, I am pissed. Cakewalk should check these things beforehand. I hope they fix it soon.

    UPDATE:

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that the tech support contacted me with instructions on how to get the expansion packs to work.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to test it as I am at work.  In the email, they gave me a (I think) personal link to the download, so I won't be posting that.  But, the instructions are as follows:

Dimension Pro - Windows Expansion Pack installation steps:

    1) - Unzip the Dim Pro Free Expansion Packs Content.zip package

    2) - Navigate into the "Dim Pro Free Expansion Packs Content/Programs" folder

    3) - Copy the contents of the Programs folder into your Dimension Pro Programs folder:

    " C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro" (Windows XP)
" C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro" (Windows Vista and Windows 7)

    4) - For the Multisamples folder please copy the contents of each folder over to your respective Dimension Pro Multisamples folder. It is important that you copy the contents within in each folder versus only copying the folders.

    For example:
    - Open the "00 - Wavetables" folder and copy all of the contents
    - Navigate to your Dimension Pro Multisamples folder.
    The default location is C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples
*Navigate to your custom Multisamples folder if you installed Dimension Pro's factory content to a custom folder location.
    - Open the "00 - Wavetables" factory content folder and paste the new expansion pack content into this folder.
    - Repeat these steps for each of the folders within the Expansion Pack Content Multisamples folder. *(copy the entire folders where the factory folder does not exist)

    5) - After copying over all of your Expansion Pack content the next time you open Dimension Pro make sure to press F5 on the program browser to refresh the program list for the Expansion Pack 1 and Expansion Pack 2 folders to appear.
    That's it.

If this doesn't work for you, then you can email their tech support and perhaps they can link you to the download, which might be the key to getting the expansions to work.  It took them a little more than two weeks to get back to me.

Also, as I've said before, I don't know if this will work as I have not personally tried it so good luck!

    Same problem here.
The problem appears to be specific to starting with version 1.5(as opposed to upgrading from an earlier version).
The link provided by Glyn, and bish0p2004's email both assume that the contents have been installed to the wrong location.
Unfortunately, the setup routine is not seeing the serial number, so nothing is being installed at all. This is the breakdown point for all of us.
Once we get past the setup, it will be easy enough to move the files, if need be.
Since this is starting to look like a fairly consistent problem, I hope Cakewalk will post a sulution soon.
They've always come through before, so keep the faith.

Just bought the D-Pro download and had the issue with Expansion Packs - didn't recognize my serial number. I used the trick posted by Vstream at http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=299371&start=60 and it worked just fine. I had to put the samples and the programs in the right places.

Bah, where were you two weeks ago?!  :P

    Thanks for the link.

Well, I got a new download file from the Cakewalk tech support and was able to get the expansions working.  I suggest you guys either try the method posted in nebulae's link, or contact the tech support as these sounds are great.

The system is not perfect for me, as I use FL Studio and I can't hit the refresh button in Dim Pro (the stand alone version works fine) though, so I have to use the load bank option each time I want to select a new preset from the expansion (it's too bad D-Pro doesn't have the arrow selection in the browser like Rapture)...it's just a bit of an inconvenience when trying to go through presets really fast.

^actually, all you have to do is delete you programs.lst  file. On my system (Win7x64), the file is located here:

    C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs

Once you do, D-Pro will refresh the patch list, and you'll see the Expansions.

I have a problem with the Expansion packs. Some patches will not work.
For example in Expansion Pack 2:

    Dimensions\FG Disturbing Atmospheres

gives the following error: "multisample not found 1x12,421-1m.sfz"

I checked the Multisamples folder and it IS available in Multisamples\Cabinet and Amp Simulations

But apparently it is not found?
