Dimension Pro 1.5 upgrade does not remove 1.2

I just installed the upgrade to Dimension Pro 1.5 from Pro 1.2.  I am using Sonar Producer 8.5.3.

I noticed that after a successful upgrade and a scan of plug-ins, that both version of Dimension Pro, 1.2 and 1.5 are visible to Sonar.  Shouldn't the new version have removed the old?

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Will older projects that used 1.2 automatically use 1.5 since both versions are coexisting?

Thanks,

Charley

For compatibility reasons with old/existing projects I assume. I think the only way to "fix" this is to uninstall the old version, or to exclude it in the plug manager. IMO this was the right decision.
Edit - after seeing your edit - Depends - in my case I installed the 64 bit version whereas the old version was 32 bit only. This would need to be replaced by the user. However if you are staying 32 bit, as long as the name of the .dll is the same it should replace the old version.

Also, the installer is so confusing that it's quite possible to install the new version in a completely different place to the old one. I had to remove the old one manually.

Unfortunately, the .dll file for version 1.2 was in a different directory than where the 1.5 upgrade put it.  It should have found the old version and asked me if I want to replace it it but it didn't.

My concern is all the settings on each instance of DimPro.  If I have to manually duplicate them into 1.5 instance that would be awful.  The Cakwalk tech note at: http://www.cakewalk.com/s...der.aspx?ID=2007013164 kind of suggests one do this.

I think I am going to try and uninstall 1.5 and then reinstall it to the same directory 1.2 was in.  Very unusual for upgrade software not to search for the prior version.

Can't find an uninstaller for 1.5.

I might be wrong, but --   I'm guessing the old version is a DXi version, whereas the new update is VST only.
So maybe it's not removing the old DXi but simply updating the old VSTi.

Actually, you're right. The DX version doesn't work in 64-bit so they've given us a VST version that works in both 32-bit and 64-bit. I'll admit the installer sucks.
