Dimension Pro cello samples

Now this may be a stupid question or three but the cello samples are legato and expressive can someone explain to me what this means and i would like to use the up and down multi samples so i can emulate going back and forth on the cello with the bow but there is no sfv file to let me use these multi-samples some help please?
