Dimension Pro- how to update?

Hey there

I have Dimension Pro 1.5 installed likely from Sonar X3 or X2. When I open it, it says Dimension Pro 1.5.

I have now Sonar Platinum and Command Center shows that I need to install Dimension Pro (because it can not see that it already installed, I guess). It offers version 1.5.5.13 which is 2.93 Gb. I have limited space on C drive and I dont want to install no 2.93 Gb of anything anywhere if I dont have to. So should I attempt to uninstall Dimension Pro 1.5 and then set new location and reinstall what ever Command Center offers? I want it to be able to see it for the future updates, but I dont need a duplicate. It says 2.93 Gbs- that is a lot of space to take lightly. Also I just bought Rapture Pro upgrade and dont want to make major closterfck on my computer. Thanks.

Just some thoughts - not a definitive answer sorry ...

If it's in CCC available to download then it's recognised as one of your "My Products" so if you did deinstall earlier versions of DimPro, it would always be available for you to download / reinstall.

I suggest that if you are getting below about 10GB on you C:\ drive you are going start having problems anyway so time to have a good cleanup. Also, CCC downloads it's install files under C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center ... which may be a good place to start to look for space because I understand Platinum install files were 9GB worth. You should be able to move these off. Also for the 2.9GB, you might as well double that for installer files + installed files (if installed to C:\).

[EDIT]: Personally I wouldn't bother about a little red light in CCC. You likely have the latest version (just not displaying the point release info (?)). If it's working to your requirement then why reinstall(?) - unless you are simply looking to reorganize things off of C:\.

Thank you for the thoughts. My C drive is 240 Gb SSD and I built that computer in 2013 and already have 30 Gb left. So I just deleted almost 1 Gb from Command Center/Downloads folder but left the folder itself there to not confuse CCC. This is what I found in FAQ:
Will Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic factory content be available in Rapture Pro?
Yes. Just like expansion packs, all factory content from Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic that was installed before Rapture Pro will be automatically migrated.
Note that the Legacy Content Packs Vol 1–3 included with Rapture Pro contain the Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic factory content. If Rapture Pro is being installed fresh, Dimension Pro and Rapture Classic factory content is available in these packs.

So apparently, I should be able to play Dimension Pro sounds through Rapture Pro, and I can delete/uninstall the 1.5 version and install Legacy Content Packs 1-3, or should I leave everything the way it was and not install Legacy Content Packs?

Here's how I think it works ... could be wrong.
(Note: I just did the 'install all' which laid the legacy content down anew, in addition to keeping my old content).

If you don't download the individual/legacy installers ... it will determine whether you have Dim/Rap from Registry entries and 'copy' the content to the RapPro Multisamples directory (and leave the old stuff in place too).

In my install it didn't allow me to change the 'Patch and Presets'(progs) dir - greyed out and pointing to the old location. But this may just be a restriction on the 'install all'.

Expansion pack content was not copied ... I've manually created links so as not to have duplicates (I want to keep Dim/Rap), which is working well.

So apparently, I should be able to play Dimension Pro sounds through Rapture Pro, and I can delete/uninstall the 1.5 version and install Legacy Content Packs 1-3, or should I leave everything the way it was and not install Legacy Content Packs?

    You can do either ...
With (a) - you would have the content but longer download/install times for the legacy content.
With (b) - that should handle the migration (copy) of at least mutisamples. This option would at least let you assess the situation after install (/prior to Dim/Rap uninstall) ... and especially wrt your 3rd party expansions. 30GB is enough space to do that.

    I'd go (b).

Thanks for the reply. I am installing it right now. I did not select "Install All". I was installing individually. 'Patch and Presets'(progs) dir was grayed out for me too- could not change location. Also there was issue I will start new thread about just to see if anybody saw it happening. After I installed Rap Pro (had to do it twice- see other thread), I went to install select Content Packs, and those did not offer me option to specify where I want to install samples. It would just do it and it is NOT in the location I selected for Rap Pro samples. Ugh.
