Dimension Pro sfz files in Rapture / convert DP's presets to Rapture

I am considering buy both Rapture and Dimension Pro for $350:

I want to use and learn ONLY Rapture because its seems more power than Dimension Pro when it comes to shaping the sound. If I buy the pair, would try to "convert" Dim Pro programs to Rapture (I will use the same sfz file and recreate the envelopes till it sounds the same as Dim Pro).

Rene, does this sound crazy? Are there any drawbacks that I haven't considered? Is Rapture slower at loading large sfz?

In absolute terms, that's not really possible. Dimension Pro has many features which are not present in Rapture (like bus effects, rex, shift, etc.).

In relative terms, you will be able to recreate many patches in Rapture, by copying the settings in DP. For some other patches, won't be possible. In any case, it's a hell of a work to convert 2000+ patches with 600+ parameters each. If you ask me... yes it does sound crazy, sorry

You don't need a dual learning curve though. If you learn Rapture, you will easily work in Dimension Pro.

Thanks for honestly answering my questions. I was only planning on converting the orchestra sounds but I guess it is crazy. I wish more developers supported their products like you do. This is one of the reasons why I'll be buying both DP and Rapture.

I want to use and learn ONLY Rapture

René's right: learn one and the other won't take much time to adjust to. They share the same basic functionality and only really differ on special features.

They make a great combination (real world in DP and exotic electronica in RP) although neither is limited to those general areas. You won't regret your purchase, believe me.

They are so similiar it is no problem switching from one to another. With both, you have 90% of your synth needs catered to. The only thing main synth techniques left out are FM and Wavesequencing, etc., which are nice tools, but I made plenty of music w/o them.

But DimPro and Rapture will keep you busy for years w/ programming.

I like combining many of the sfz's from Dimension Pro into Rapture. I use both a lot, and I also use a lot of Dim Pro's sounds in Rapture to put the step generators to work on those sounds. Hours of fun.

Anyone else doing that with Dim Pro sounds in Rapture?
