Dimension Pro x64 New Verses 8.5 Dimension Pro

I uninstalled everything from 8.5 before installing X1. All my songs now contain Dimension Pro in the Synth Rack which are in parenthesis and do not work. I can install a new Dimension Pro which installs as Dimension Pro x64 and is fine. How can I get all the old Dimension Pro inserts to work?

As far as I know replace them one by one.

I believe the new Dimension Pro and the old Dimension Pro installers register the instruments as different/separate instruments rather than the new instrument installer replacing or upgrading the old identifier.  In other words, I think the instrument identifier SONAR records as reference to which instrument to load for a track is different between the new and old versions.

I can't replace them. If I could at least read the properties and discover the specific file used in the original, it would be possible. I have way too many songs to replace blindly. Many have been published and would not my the same with out using the identical file.

The only thing you can do is reinstall 8.5 exactly the way it was before.

You really should have both installed anyway until X1 get's all the kinks worked out.

I was specifically told by Cakewalk not to install both simultaneously. Perhaps it is better to just uninstall X1 and forget about it until this problem is fixed... Any suggestions?

    Hi all,

I had the same problem with Dimension after upgrading to X1. Any project that used it would now give a "Missing plugin" error (also in 8.5), although I was able to add new instances of Dimension 1.5. Cakewalk's "advice" (To resolve, simply remove the previously referenced instance of Dimension Pro/LE from your project and then add it again") is not helpful. I saw some of the other suggestions in the forum, but they looked a bit tricky, and I wanted to get a better understanding before trying any of them. So, I reinstalled 1.2 from my Sonar 8 DVDs, but changed the program and sample folders to an external drive. At this point, old projects worked again using 1.2 - and so did any new instances I created. I then changed these two registry entries to get all my existing multisamples back:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro\Contents Folder and \Multisamples Folder

(search for the new sample folder to find the entries)

Now everything's working but of course it's using 1.2 installed on the external drive. But to be honest I don't care  - I will try upgrading, now I know how to get things working again.

Interestingly, the microhost is still 1.5.

    Aren't advances in technology great?
