Dimension Pro,where's the manual ?

Hi, I am checking out Dimension Pro throughly before I part with the money (the software belongs to a friend of mine) . I can't seem to find the manual, which seems absurd. Did the scientists at Cakewalk forgot to throw in a 10 mb PDF file,or do they expect that us composers learn things by magic ?

Someone let me know what I am missing here....thanks

Click on the GUI of Dimension Pro, and press F1 on your Qwerty.

I actually wanted to browse the manual throughly before I take the trouble to spend a few hours to install the software. That's something I do with every software I buy: if the manual is not concise,it's difficult to understand, badly written and not as systematic as possible,I won't buy the software at all,no matter how good it is.

Time is too valuable to be spent banging my head onto walls trying to learn something that was not throughly explained in the first place. I need to see that manual before anything else. Any ideas? Thanks...

Doing legwork for me? Don't make me laugh. No one did any legwork for me,I am the one who's paying the money. Cakewalk can sign me off his list of potential customers and I will make sure that I let know my friends and colleagues as well that they'd better looking for better alternatives. The software market is saturated with products and I am sure there's better ones, not to mention better forums.

Doing legwork for me....mph...who do you think you are? If you don't want to help, then go on your way,I could care less about it, your replies are useless anyways. And get off your imaginary pedestal.
'Doing my legwork' just because I am trying to find their stupid manual, which they probably didn't even put there in the first place. What a joke

My copy of DimPro came with a printed manual. I don't know if it's still included now though.

No, what you got was a correct response from a person who has almost 8,000 posts here that are quite helpful to those who ask. You are the one who is too lazy to do the work necessary to find it. Your 4 posts here have all sounded rather like you are entitled to something. When you ask for help and are given it why not try to be a bit more appreciative. And, FWIW, b-rock knows more about Dimension Pro than you will ever learn from the manual.

    Sorry - I guess I just fed a troll.

I will go on record as saying that getting to the .pdf manuals for DimPro and Rapture is a little beyond the "For Dummies" level. It should be way more intuitive. In fact, the install should give you the option to place a shortcut to the manual on the desktop.

That being said, once you locate it, there's nothing stopping you from moving or copying it to a more convenient location.

It is easier to get an answer from Tom than finding it in the manual. That is not the manual's fault - if you know how to look up the answer you probably already know it (kinda like using a dictionary for the correct spelling).

    2. Tom also knows about application in the real world.

    3. SFZ, a large part of DimPro that ain't in the manual.

no Nick YOU make no sense and rarely have to me if I'm totally honest.

(prime example being Tone's Battery pack and you spouted rather self importantly about how you knew drum maps, yet didn't produce the goods)..

Hey b rock...thanks for doing the legwork for me ...I appreciate it. You want I get you some coffee?

All software/hardware manufacturers are all doing the same thing...the day of the paper manual is over. When they do supply a manual it is all leagal crap and not much about the product. There are others filling the gaps like the "Power" books series.

If the software belongs to a friend then I must assume your friend hasn't violated the license agreement and let you load it onto your computer. That means you're using your friends computer to check out the program. Your friend should be able to help you with finding the manual. Ask your friend. That should be much faster than posting on a forum with a request that usually comes from someone who has stolen the software but not the manual.

I have compiled a copy of the Dimension Pro manual based off the electronic help found through the Dimension GUI.  It is found at the link below.  I hope everyone finds it useful.  More importantly, I hope anyone who downloads the manual has the integrity and basic moral decency to have purchased a legal copy of the software.  I'm happy to lend my time in compiling and sharing a manual.  What makes me angry is the thought of also being one of few people to bear the financial burden of supporting a great company so that dishonest slimebags can steal from it.  If you haven't purchased a legal copy, go do it NOW.  Aside from screwing cakewalk and selling your soul for a couple hundred bucks, you're also essentially stealing from the paying customers who are on this forum helping you.

With that out of the way, please find the link below.

I just bought the full boxed version of Dim Pro, as an update from DimLE on Sonar7.

Inside the box were the 2 installation DVD's and a big chnky printed manual.

Given it's size, the manual would be pretty hard to lose.
But, just in case, I also (very quickly - as in less than a minute) found the pdf version of the manual on the 1st installation DVD, which I then copied to my laptop.

The link to the Simon Cann book is for the first edition. 2nd edition published last December.

Simons website has some additional presets for download: http://noisesculpture.com/cakewalk-synthesizers  And links to Amazon. He'll get another buc or so if you order using his links.

And some SFZ tools for download,...

Ordering it now, as the Sonar manuals are pretty much useless. J

I wouldn't waste my time with trying to explain to the OP about the Dim Pro ****ing manual, it's a sample player, all he has to do is get his head round using the envelopes (sustain points and so on) and writting SFZ files, and if he has any experience with synths I dont think the basics of how to work Dim pro is beyond his scope of understanding

See, even though this is older post, thinking someone should know envelopes, sustain points, and so on, is jumping the gun, it's a place to learn that stuff. Maybe in this case, it is so, but so many people come here, and other forums, genuinely, looking for help, and we're just too dumb, because F!, doesnt, just do it for us, we're not asking for you to do it, or I'm not, but I promise, my last post, I'd rather wait on hold, and piss off a tech, than be treated like I"m slow, because I dont know how to use Audio Snap, or Quantize, split envelope, clip editing, looping. Yes I know of these things, but not a clue of how to implement. Even after trying hours upon hours, I just don't get some people, sorry we we were not born with a Firewire, instead of an umbilical cord. I've said my peace, thanks to those, who have helped me, Fog Stevestrummer, thats about it, have fun with all that knowledge!
