Dimension and TS64

Hi at all,
i got two problems in sonar x2 studio.

1. if i load Dimension pro or le in a 64bit project it comes a error message that the synth can not load because it is not ready       installed. In sonar 32bit, no problem. I can load this synth.

2. If i load TS64 as a insert effect in a track, for example nPulse, then i got a delay when i play a key, sounds like latency. This comes only with TS64 not with other effects. What can it be?

Best regards, Tomas

Sounds like an older version of DimPro. What version are your running?

The TS64 uses a look ahead buffer which introduces latency. the plugin is not intended for use while tracking.

Lets get things little clearer. There is no such thing as a 64 bit project. If you use Sonar 64 bit it creates the same project as 32 bit Sonar. The difference is that the host will want to use plugins of its native type. Meaning 64 bit Sonar will want 64 bit plugins and 32 bit Sonar can't use 64 bit plugins.

So my question is did you install Dim Pro as a 64 bit plugin? But even if you didn't it should still load the 32 bit version in Sonar 64 bit unless its DXi.

Latency can increase due to look ahead buffers in the plugin.

    Hello,

I don't know. It comes with Project5. If i install only Dim from this cd, it installs the synth only as dxi. Not as an vsti. Thats all i can see.

John. My english is not the best so let me tell you how i had understood your statement.
A 32bit plugin can be load in a 64bit environment.
    A 64bit plugin can't load in a 32bit environment.
Is this plugin only installed as dxi, it can be used only in a 32bit environment. Not in 64bit. Right?

Project 5 did not ship with DimPro, it came with it's predecessor Dimension. Dimension was only available as a 32bit DXi. Generally 32bit DXi's do not work in 64bit DAWs. Some success has been reported using a DX-to-VST wrapper found on the net. Once wrapped as a VST BitBridge may load the plug-in, otherwise; Dimension is not going to work in 64bit X2 Studio.

    Alright,
    thanks for your answers.

And what is with the TS64? is it able to change the look ahead buffer to make changes with no latency?

The TS64 needs the buffer to do it's job. Do not use the TS64 while tracking. From the TS64 help (hit F1 with the TS64 UI in focus to access the help):

The TS‑64 Transient Shaper is designed primarily for mastering/post-production, and not for use as a live insert. The plug-in requires a fairly high plug-in latency (about 200ms) that needs to be compensated for by the host application. This latency/look-ahead is required by the plug-in to examine the input audio, detect transients and gather information about their nature, before applying the appropriate gain and filter curves.

You have it very right. Dim Pro is also installed as a VSTi. Dimension comes with Project 5 not Dimension Pro.

Dimension Pro was a extra cost plugin until CW bundled it with Sonar.

Scook has it right too and gives a complete explanation.
