Dimension pro--no midi out signal

i plugged my midi into soundcard
i am getting a midi "in" signal.....but no midi "out" signal and i can't hear the instrument playing....how do i fix this so i can play with my keyboard?

    Midi in should trigger the sounds. Midi out would be for the computer to control external hardware. Are you monitoring the computer soundcard? This is where the sounds will be. Midi does not transmit audio So to hear the sound of a software synth you need to monitor the comp.
