DirectX Plugins in X3c
I must have looked at this 20 times before I thought about it... Do we now have directX support in X3c x64? I see the list under Audio FX and it shows the Sonuitus, the Cakewalk and the Lexicon Pantheon... I know I did some fudge work in X2 to get the Lexicon Pantheon working, but I thought we were running vst versions of the Sonitus plugins... They don't show the bitbridge wrapper... and they seem to work... Did I not notice this in X2? If we now have DX support I'm wondering if we can add other DX/Dxi devices??? Anyone else? Keni

The Sonitus plug-ins have been bundled as 64bit DX for a long time. Other DX plug-ins must be compiled for 64bit to be used in a 64bit host otherwise the 32bit versions need a DX-to-VST wrapper to load into BitBridge (or jBridge). FWIW, the Lexicon Pantheon was also bundled as a 32bit and 64bit DX effect (just like the Sonitus Suite).

Thanks scook... Does that mean that they upgraded all those older Cakewalk DX plugins such as Tape Sim and Amp Sim... and the Project5 plugins suite? I don't think I remember seeing them in X2... I knew we had the Sonitus plugins but I guess I was wrong thinking we had both vst and dx versions of these... It really doesn't matter too much for me as I don't use those older Cakewalk plugins... I was just wondering in regard to some other Dxi's such as VSampler which I got running using a VST version, while the one that came with Sonar was Dxi... Thanks for the info... Keni

That is correct. Not only the old DX effects from Project 5, the even older pitch shifter, amp and tape sims but the old DXi synths TTS-1, Cyclone, Pentagon I, PSYN II and Roland Groove Synth were all updated to 64bit. If you purchased the upgrade to VSampler included with SONAR, the vendor supplied both DXi and VST formats.

Wow! That's very cool. I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it... Or did I miss that too? ;-) I do see that it listed a few that won't load such as the VSampler3 Dxi or the DR008 or the RXP... so something's not quite right here... The TTS1, Pentagon, Cyclone, PSyn, and Roland Groove Synth all seem to load fine... Of course, the RXP (32bit) VST loads fine... as does the rgcAuydio Square (bitbridged) Keni

The other DXi plug-ins mentioned are not 64bit and have not been included in SONAR for some time. You are seeing plug-ins installed by older 32bit versions of SONAR. RXP currently installs as 32bit VST.

Whoa! Stop the clock! According to the X3 Readme file, Pentagon is not compatible with the x64 version. Do you really see Pentagon in the X3 (x64) Plug-in Browser? I don't see it on my end so I have the x32/86 version of X3 also installed just for access to some of the old DXi's, particularly Pentagon. Please confirm Pentagon in X3 x64. Thanks! Well, I didn't read the X3 Readme ... but Pentagon works fin in X3, and X2 if I remember rightly. Not something I really get around to using myself, but I have given it whirl - it's got some great sounds !. I haven't installed the 32 bit version since X1, and I only leave that installed due to ONE MIDI plugin which I'm sure the vendor will never update to x64. Go try Pentagon in x64 and have some fun :-) Cheers - Cliff

Before I upgraded, I had been regularly using Pentagon in X1 64bit.

I have not tried Pentagon on X3 but it runs fine on 64bit X2a. It comes in both a 32 and 64bit DXi plug-in. SONAR must be run as administrator and the Valleys simulation setting should be avoided.

Most of the Sony dx plugins also work in Sonar x64 as they've been updated for compatibility with Vegas Pro which is also fully 64bit.
They're not much in the looks department but Wave Hammer is one of my all time favourites.

Pentagon works fine on my 64bit X3c.
The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.
