Distant Towers - Flee by the Water

This lil diddly has taken us a bit longer to post but I believe this tune was finished in June '14.

Tony's way better at details but here's the general background...

The concept came at about the same time as 2 or 3 others ideas hit the drawing board (we normally fling poop to the wall and if anything sticks we make a tune out of it) but we normally dig a bit deeper to fully create what is bouncing round our heads collectively...this lil funny duck just kinda stood on its own and willfully shed most ideas until we all just gave up and let her stand alone and unafraid in her quirky light......its destined to be a bridge song on our 5th CD which should be out in the spring of '15 (that's my best guess). Hope all is well in your part of the world!

And as always we welcome your good ears, your comments both good and not so good...

    Gripping. Desperate.
Funny how something like this crawls out from some dark corner and proudly states that it must exist.
    I like it.

Goodness me..the nearest thing I've heard to a ballad by DT . Wonderful stuff as always guys, you know I'm a fan. Love the way this builds without making a fuss about it, and those trademark 'weird' bits are going on in the background...

Wow what a terrific production.  Very cinematic indeed. The rhythmic sounds of the guitar(s) pull you into the song and are accented wonderfully by the change ups and sounds (percussion, strings, and various other sounds).  The lyrics and vocals complement the entire work.
     Excellent work my friends.

What I like about this song is that there is nothing else I can compare it to.  The style is unique, to me, and the production is well done.  I had trouble understanding the vocals, but this could be just right for this style.  I liked it so much that I had to listen twice.  Way cool!

Very cool feel going on here...   It reminds of some artist/band but I just can't quite put my finger on it.

The overall mix works well.  The vocals are difficult to understand in places, but somehow I didn't need to explicitly understand them to "get" the feel that the track presents.

This one has a way of holding me even though it doesn't change up a lot. I think it might be the uniqueness of it that holds me. Great song! Sometimes it seem as if the ones we are ready to throw out take off! The low vocals are nice. I would try and make that guitar shine a bit more if it were me since it is basically the star of the show. It seemed to be laying just a bit low in the mix to my ears.

Very cool and totally unique , I feel you should center the vocals more , not so wide.

From what [link=mailto:I@ve]I[/link]'ve heard from DT, this is a bit different, I like it. Like how it slowly builds up and just ends with some quirky noises and the drums.

Whoa, what a song!!  Very dark and brooding.  It's understated and I like that.  Personally, I like the vocals lower in the mix like you have them, it creates a very ambient feel as if the song is being received on an ethereal level rather than just being played on a stereo in the room.  You guys have something here . . . .

As always your tunes are worth waiting for.  What genre?  The Genre DT, I would say.  I've been away and felt right at home coming back and seeing you guys up here.  So, I have a couple tunes from Mark and have been sitting on them but you've inspired me to get my lyric hat back on.  I thank you for that.  So glad you guys are still working together and producing music I enjoy listening to!

I love the feel and production.  As said before, can't understand all the lyrics but I want too!  I love the vocal sound and attitude.
    Instruments played well.  Good arrangement.
I would fade out after the vocal ends at the end.

First time listening to Distant Towers and I was thoroughly impressed.  I have always been a fan of bass (or maybe baritone?) vocals.  Well done gentlemen!  I especially enjoyed the sound you got out of the snare.  I think it fit the song perfectly.  Only feedback I have is (drum roll......) to have the vocals up a bit.  But, considering that's my favorite part of the song it only makes sense Id want to hear more of it.

Very compelling work of artist creation that just sucks you up and brings you into the adventure. Very inspiring song to listen to with many creative movements happening and the vocals are mysterious enough to make one wonder - just what is going on here and where are we going? Great mix of original instrumentation and vocals. Very nicely done guys!!
