Distant Towers - Seeds of Dis-wonder

Hey all....hope things are well on your end of the planet! I'm standing if for Tony (who normally posts) as he is on a well deserved vacation in Cali.....keep safe T and see you when your back in "DT Studio-south". I believe this latest tune is really the first to be birthed totally in our current configuration (Tony/Preston in Virginia and me nestled here in Korea). Our last offering "Ask Myself" was completed in May of '12 but that tune started while I was still in the States. In the grand scheme of things it shouldn't make any difference in the world.....just a point of interest. KK nuff rambling....here's the poopage. Tune- Seeds of Dis-wonder The Culprits- Tony Wood - Musical composition, Guitars, synths Tom McCaffrey - Lyrics/Vocals, Keys, production Preston Richardson - Kit, synth and all things that go bang or boom As always we love to get your feedback...the good, bad and ugly! There's never a tune we don't learn from your input and we really appreciate that! I'll end w/an apology of sorts....In the past Tony and I kept our hands and feet wet quite often on the forum but as of late life has just overtaken our time. We miss all our friends here and wish you all the best and will try to get in when we can and check out some of the new stuff as well as the old-times great tunes! Take care all and hope to talk soon! http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11943858

    Tom,

    Absolutely loved it.

Everything just came together for me: the oddball lyrics, the groove, the push pull guitars.
    Mix sounds great.

Aaahh, now life is good. Wonderful track guys, all the good stuff I've come to love. I really like (and envy) the 'front-to-back 3-D mixes you achieve, and all the little details swirling around in there. Fantastic.

Ha ha ! Didn't mean it in a yawn ........they already did that......way - I heard the first note or two and genuinely "knew" how it was gonna go - maybe I'm just too much inside your head now lol ! Groupie  lol !  ;)

Still haven't had chance to listen properly yet, but I can tell you even from my lappy speakers that I really love that lil delicate x-files synthy sound and the drums are sounding mighty fine. I'll end up liking it all - you know that already ! Just say the word if you get time to come out to play - I'm always up for that.

cool tune, not what i was expecting.
i like how the arrangement builds...

i have to say this seems to work better in the headphones than the speakers.....

like the fuzzy guitar tones that are used here and there..
seem to blend like a synth, is that what they are? reminds me of some of the guitar tones off of joe satriani's 'engines of creation' album

I like this too. The mix is really well done. I'm not sure about the vox though. Either my getting over a cold is keeping me from understanding them or they are not easy to hear.

    Other than that,
    Well done! Nice tunage.

    Hey, Tom and Tony,

Wow!!! Don't pay the ransom, the DT boys are back with another cool, very classy rocker!

As always, very clever writing and arranging, top notch performances by the three of you, and the always unique, but instantly recognizable DT "magic dust" sprinkled over the rich sounding, pro quality mix!

I really love how all the flowing textures and moving elements fold themselves in and out of the mix and carry the song like a river from beginning to end.

Tom, how are you adjusting to life in S.K., are you finally getting all settled in and comfortable?

Excellent work, guys, this is a real winner!

PaulO - No prob me brudda...look forward to your mix FB!! Bat- Thanks for the listen mate! The guitars are all Tonys...I think he picked up a nice lil tube-amp last year and has really put her to good use. I have an ancient twin 12 MusicMan over his house that has dreamy tube distortion but you need to bloody crank-it so his lil (12 watt I think) tube amp does great! Of course there's quite a few synth tracks but none in the guitar-relm. Robert - Glad you enjoyed the tune mate. Yea the vox is kinda wiggled in there but somehow as I tried to bring them up front a bit more the tune just kinda suffered a bit (to my ears) so I left them nessled where they are now. Thanks for the FB for sure! Brudda Mark!- Miss you man! How things? Hope your well...I'm glad you came along for the trip and we are looking forward to your next Pugtones tuneage! Big BOB! - How are you dude! Love having you on my FB as I can sneak more listens in....Yea this tune was fun to slap together and Preston never stops improving and adding great twists and turns to the DT buffet...Yea we are really loving our tour in S. Korea...its hard to believe but its closing in on 1 year..wow...time flies! kk Bro be well...miss you and take care and keep rockin!

is it just me that thinks the opening vocals sound like Reece? this has a groove which is a little different for you guys, but still in that grunge-country-goth style. the guitar is a little too fuzzy for my tastes, but the mix is spot on!loving the dulcimer part.

Pogeallicious... Kind of a fusion thing. The low vox is a bit unusual, but seems to work well, especially with the high vox together. I really like the synths, and the different percussion, really cool mix and the performances were great. That stringed instrument that made a cameo was cool, like a mandolin, but a longer scale. yeah, it just finished, actually really cool and different.

Love the landscape of this tune.  Solid bottom, great instrumentals and vocals.  You know, I wouldn't expect less from you guys.  You are still the vocal chameleon to me, Tom.  I think I might have figured out one of your vocal production tricks.  I know to you it's not a trick but  me it is cause I can't do it!  It's good to hear you here.  I have been here and not here with certain things going on for me.  One of them is a 2 1/2 year old that I take care of during the week.  My beloved Grandson, Silas.  Seeing a DT tune on here made me happy.  Just like the old days.  :-)  I hope you are enjoying South Korea.  I've never been there but they're making some good cars now.  Can't be all bad.  Take care of yourself, buddy.  You guys really put together a great "world" tune here.
