first we equate quantization error as occurring during the conversion process. then we apply it to truncation; it is easy to see why confusion may occur. and then truncation error is equated with truncating a infinite summation to a finite one but also includes discretization error. so we should probably refer to the problem with truncation during bit reduction as truncated discretization error or truncated truncation error. the oops error is okay with me though :-)
