Division 7

First off, sounds great. Well balanced and good textures. Listening on my system without room correction, nothing sticks out, which means good mixing skillz at work.

That initial snare roll was a bit loud and could be softened a bit with some reverb.

There is a hint of distortion once things get loud and the drums come in a bit awkward.

Great stuff.  Like James said, lots of influences in this.  I don't hear the issues that jamesyoyo mentioned, but he has the golden ears.  I must listen to this some more and then tell my friends about it.

I love it. Classic prog at its best, even down the organ. Brilliant. I am also not hearing James' issues, and quite like the snare sound. Everything is tight and clear, great tone on the guitar.

Chappel - as I said in my opening post, this "single" version of the song is a cut down version of a lengthier album track.

In the context of the album it kind of makes sense to me as what goes before is a bit sleepy, a bit dopey, and this snare roll is indeed a wake up call.

mgh - thanks also, and I've no idea about the album! This thing has been dragging on for so long, it's a bit of a millstone and now contains a fairly eclectic bunch of style & genres.

Got a lot of vocals to do. A lot of instrumental beds are laid down but several others are still in the compositional phase.

Plus, we don't have as much time as we used to - becoming grandparents for the first time was a shock to the system - and the day job still intrudes with monotonous regularity!

But, we'll get there one day. As soon as anything is close to being "finished", I'll post it up

this is really a stellar piece of art. a gem.  complicated yet executed w/ natural flow.  love the bass sound.  the 7/8 time sig is awesome and it seems it alternates between 7/8 and  6n-a-half/8. that is slick.  guitars remind me of Andy Summers meets Robert Fripp of King Crimson.  A+ 

This is a good track the mix sound well balanced with good dynamics.  

My only personal observation is that some of the drum candy becomes a bit repetitive but I think you covered that in your reply to Chappel.

Daryl, the organ was the B4Xpress which I got as a freebie, along with the FM8 & Pro53 several years ago.

Which reminds me - I haven't got them on my new rig yet (all Midi was frozen prior to migration)
