Do I really need Command Center?

In light of the Superfish debacle from Lenovo I'm hesitant to install unnecessary software. What does Command Center do? Do I really need it? Is it safe? Does it make changes to internet certificates? Does it change any of the system protocols used to communicate over the Internet or the World Wide Web? Does is snoop/probe/sniff my computer files or communications?

    Command Center is not Superfish. It is a front end which simplifies Cakewalk product management. It does not scan your PC or report data back to Cakewalk. It keeps track of what it installs by maintaining XML files on your hard drive and has no idea what else is installed on the PC. It does connect to your Cakewalk account when launched to compare what it is installed with what is available in the store account. It is not required to install Cakewalk products but it does make the process easier. From what I can tell, it is a harmless program.

    IMO it really does help with installations and updates.
