Worked like a champ with compatability mode. It's still annoying to have to click the page to get it to scroll.

Typed to soon. It still locks up when going backward to the previous page.

OK...thanks Seth...found compatibility settings and included this forum.  We'll see.  Here goes.

Yup...works better!

Nope...sorry...just tried to post a reply in the software forum and it gave me the "forum not responding" thingy again.  And when I click on the screen I get a "recover web page" dialog at the bottom of the page and when I click through that I get a dialog that says either "close the program" or "close the program and attempt to find a solution".  When I click through that I get yet another different dialog that says the web site is not responding.  And then the screen flashes and my post GETS POSTED.  Ooooo Scary Kids!

Try turning off your Windows Firewall. It's not necessary if you have a hardware router.

Didn't get the message ... guess that's it!  So how do you pin the 32bit version to taskbar?  I tried but it won't let me.

Cheers,

jayson

I had no problems pinning the 32bit version to the taskbar, but I probably removed the 64bit first.

I am on Win 7 64 with 32 bit IE9 and get it all the time with CW forums (Cakewalk.com is not responding), but don't see it on most other websites/forums.

Yes, very similar behavior - can't do even basic functions in either the forums or X1.   I have utterly given up on X1 due to constant crashes.

Being back on a functioning and stable 8.5.3 is like a breath of fresh air.  Maybe I'll try X1E or X1F.

I dunno guys, it must be something system specific. The forum runs great in IE on my DAW and two separate laptops. And it also runs great on IE, Chrome, and Firefox on those same two laptops.

Decided to try IE 64 here. Let's see if I can post without any issues. If so and anyone is interested, I have no problems sharing my settings.

**Edit** Yep, worked without a problem...no issues or errors, now I'm testing a post edit. Seems to be fine. Gotta be something either system specific or maybe a browser setting of some sort. On the compatibility thing, That's only wreaked a bit a of havoc for me on web sites that were not made with IE 8 or 9 in mind. Like, it will place the graphics in all the wrong places. I click up the compat mode and it goes back to normal. Most sites seem to work right for me though. The only reason I don't use this browser more is due to the lack of flash etc.

The system I'm using right now is a stock Dell i3 Win 64, 4 gig RAM.

Yea, runs fine (except for the usual problems) on my Chrome system and laptop at the office (both XP32bit) and was working fine on my 64bit before moving up from IE8 to IE9. No biggie.

Update: I'm now having virtually no issues with the forum using IE9 x64. I still have problems trying to DL files from my cakewalk store account. No idea at all what I did to make it work better. If you go into the tools menu on IE9 and select "about" there is a knowledge base link about the package and other links describing how to deal with problematic web sites. FYI.

I also run IE9 on all my windows machines, and it works fine with the CW forums.

Someone asked why they all go for this minimalistic look. According to MS, the redesign of IE9 was done so that you see more of the website without scrolling. This is due to the fact that a lot of laptops (and netbooks) nowadays have fairly low resolutions. A couple years back you saw that screen sizes of laptops were increasing. I have a 4 year old HP laptop that has a resolution of 1650x1050. If you buy a laptop now, it comes with a 1366x768 screen, or a 1280x800. Vertically, this is a LOT smaller. So, if you take away the bars and redesign the way the tab pages are located, you win a couple of lines... And to be honest, in the beginning, I found it... well... Not so great. After all, I have 2560x1440 pixels available, but now, I kinda like it... I suppose it's an acquired taste :)

There is a beta of flash for x64. I have it installed on the 64-bit version of IE9. But, I cannot find the link anymore on the adobe site... It was a bit buggy though...

I was still having problems surfing and posting to Cakewalk's forum's but just installed the 64 bit beta of Adobe Flash and no more hang ups.  Here's what Willy Jones from Cakewalk posted which also fixed up problems I had viewing Cake TV.  Hope this helps others.

----------------------
Using the 32-bit version of your web browser will allow you to watch them. If you're feeling risky Adobe has a 64-bit version of Flash in beta that you can install as well: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11.html

Problems with ie 9 here.  I guess it is 64 bit - I'll check.  It makes writing on the forums hard.

I tried ie9 twice and had those problems. I went back to ie8 and have no problem except sometimes I have to click on the blank bar between posts to get the page to scroll again. I prefer the layout of ie8 anyway. I have tried Firefox and Opera and they were ok but nothing to entice me to stay with them. I have not tried Chrome, just because it is Google... I don't know why but I just don't quite trust having my serch engine and browser run by the same people... just because everyone is watching me does not mean I am paranoid!!
