Do registered retail versions of X1 also include a download?

This questions is for Sonar X1 users who bought the retail version (boxed version). After registering your product did you also get an option to download Sonar X1 in your products registered section? Or does this only apply to the purchased download version? I want to know in case if I get a bad disk version a download will be readily available in my products registered. BTW, I'm new here and want to setup an Avatar pic but don't see that option anywhere.

No, as far as I know, you get the version that you purchase and that's it. I could be wrong though, so you may want to contact Cakewalk directly.

If you get a bad disc, you can call Cakewalk Customer Service and they should be able to send you a new one.

OK, saw that earlier and selected both options by clicking on the buttons and wasn't aware that you also have to hover over the text afterwords. Pretty confusing if the text does not appear to be a link. But anyway, my original question is in regard to the retail boxed version that is not sold through the Cakewalk store.

Don't know why you want to download what you already have on disk.
If you are looking for updates to Sonar X1, you have access to those and you will need to download Sonar X1C as the disk does not contain the latest version of Sonar.  Click on "Support" at the top of this page and select "Support by product".

You can purchase a download version from the Cakewalk eStore only including the discs; which will then be sent to you in a vanilla packaging.

Having bought just the discs in retail package elsewhere  you won't automatically get access to the download.

However you could contact Cakewalk Customer Service and ask for a download link. It begs the question though: Why?

Especially multi gigabyte downloads like SONAR which provided it's very own download headches when SOANR 8.5 was released.

With SONAR X1 I bought the download version from the Cakewalk eStore with the retail Disc package to follow in the mail.

Just think it would be good to have both options. The download is good just to have in case one of the disks goes bad. It may also be a good idea to download and save X1 on a backup drive.

I have the DL version and its a lot of downloading. I did plan to get the disks but haven't gotten around to it yet. One of these days perhaps.

Yeah that's why I prefer the disks version but makes sense to have a viable download handy just in case if one of the disks goes bad or the CD/DVD drive goes bad. Same thing with music and its files, you would want to have it backed up and saved in many different mediums.

I always order the disks... always. But if one were to become damaged I would think that you would be able to get CW to give you a DL of a product you have registered... or couldn't you borrow a disk from anyone and then just use your SN and registration when you get to that point.
I don't know but I would think that someone could burn a copy of the disks for you to use... I mean X1 is X1 it is the SN and registration # that makes one copy different from another, right?
I could be totally wrong but I'd think you could find a way to get it back if you need it.
