Do these work with Session Drummer 3...?

Hi
Found these goodies on the toontracks site.  Do you know or have experience of them working with Session Drummer 3?  The products are Songwriter Drumpack 1, 2 and 3.  If they are only for superior and EZ drummer.  I know that they SHOULD work but does anyone know for sure????
And if they are not suitable...does anyone know a similar pack for Session Drummer???

Thanks in advanse...
Mick

    I don't think they would... not that they couldn't as you point out, but they're probably proprietary to their respective programs. I was trying to find out in another thread if the expansion packs for SD3 would play alright in SD2 as I have yet to upgrade to X1.

    I have EZdrummer and there are many more instruments than Session Drummer (i.e. many more hi hats such as open, med open, wide open, tight, sequence as well as many more snares).  You would have to map these in Sonar with a drum map but as a result, you'd loose many of the nuances.

    I used to use Session Drummer a lot but ever since I purchased EZdrummer, I've never gone back. The drum loops in EZ are really good and have a great groove to them!

    Songwriters packs works fine with SS3. The only one thing you must do is buying EZPlayer from Toontracks. EzPlayer plugin is a kind of "translator" which converts Ez prepared MIDI files to be readable by SS3. There are more other features in it also, worth a couple of $ you pay for EzPlayer. I use Songwriters Packs 1 & 2, and going to buy 3rd pack.
    After installing EzPlayer You have to run it as a Synth and activate its MIDI Output. Than run SS3 and set up EzPlayer as a INPUT for SessionDrummer.

    I am on board with Spikers' recommend EzPlayer..it does have the ability to help you 'create' 'dismantle' 'what-have-you' the songwriter pack midi..I use it all the time to build my custom tracks.  (you can have it play only the kick and or snare and combine a kick beat with a different snare and hi hat beat...from to 2 different or more midi selections from the pack. definitely cool.

    i just drop the samples right into seesion drummer 3's mixer section and they work like a charm..its time consuming to set up but it works great..only cause ezdrummer has alot of bleeding in the overhead microphones so it hard for me to isolate just the seperate tracks as i need to proffessional drum recording.maybe there is a better way but ive yet handled it.

    Funny because it's that mic bleed that really makes EZdrummer sound authentic in my opinion! Different strokes for different folks I guess!

    Thanks all for the inout...

    So the choices are...
    • Play the file in Session Drummer and take my chances with what I loose from the loop;
    • Play the loops through the EZPlayer tool (cost about $50;
    • Buy EZDrummer (lite or full) for about $150;
    • Buy Superior Drummer for about $250;
    Yes, that is a good summary of a choice I have to make.  Ironically I have really enjoyed using Session Drummer 3 of late after that excellent master clase that Cake put on Cake TV.  Before that I was one of the many frustrated users.  The combination fo the Step Sequencer and SD3 worked well for me.  So thinking out loud I think I will opt for the EZPlayer route, check out the loop and drum quality and then make the bigger decision re which Drum VST to go with.

    BTW, have been searching for a similar pack (songwriter packs) and cannot find them...good little bit of marketing Toon.

    Thanks again

    ??? As dlesaux said, the mike bleed is part of what can make EZ sound so realistic.  But it's totally controllable.  What are you doing, Chuck--?  Aren't you using all the separate audio outs on EZ so you can control everything?  You can have the over head mikes and room levels as low as you want - off if you want totally dry drums--But I assure you, you don't want that.

    The point is, you have total control over the over head mikes and room, in EZ's mixer Plus in the separate outs you can assign those tracks.  From what you'r saying in your post, sounds like you're doing 1000% more work than you need.

    You shouldn't get hurt following this path.  EZplayer is useful for a number of things.
