Do we get Cakewalk by Bandlab or....

I'm a bit confuzzled.
What is Cakewalk by Bandlab actually meant to be? I'm a SONAR user as you can see in my description below this post.

Is there any rhyme or reason to me thinking of downloading CW by BL software beyond the desire to ease my curiosity? What benefits does it bring? What limitations?
Seems very shrouded in darkness is all (of course, I haven't gone to read too much, but information feels rather sparse anyway)

Cakewalk created Sonar, Cakewalk closed, Sonar was put on a (Gibson) shelf.

Bandlab bought Sonar from Gibson, re-branded it "Cakewalk by Bandlab", made it available again.

Bandlab will continue development of the software (now called Cakewalk), so while your old Sonar will continue to work, if you want new additions and/or bug fixes you switch to the re-branded version.

You will be getting a new DAW which for all practical purposes has the features of the last SONAR update plus a few minor tweaks minus a few of the third party goodies that were delivered to SONAR Platinum members to date. You will have stuff that they never imagined in X3 and you will have to learn a new DAW, but you will not have to spend the couple of hundred dollars many of us paid for the privilege of learning to use SONAR.
