Do you gift CDs when you're doing shows?

I know most of us will take $5-$10 USD for a CD of our latest mix at a show.

But sometimes, do you just show up with 5 copies to give to the most enthusiastic fans? The people likely to share it with their friends at a party?

I'm just finishing burning 5 copies to give away at today's gig.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

    It's not a bad idea.
A few weeks ago I saw the Stereophonics, and the opening act was The Wind and The Wave.  My wife was really impressed, and during the break she ran to the merch booth where the band was working after their set.  She had a $20 in her hand, and was shocked that the singer apologetically asked her for $5.  So she bought 4 and told them to raise their prices!  Now 3 of our friends will be getting CDs by a band they've never heard of but will love.
Lower prices, or free, is a great way to get across to music lovers.  As long as they don't just end up as coasters on a coffee table...
