Do you guys prefer using a mouse or a touchpad with Sonar X1?
So which of these do you use and why do you prefer using it over the other?

MOUSE!!! While I do use my laptop for occasional Sonar duty, using the touchpad for serious editing or manipulation gets old real fast.

Gaming mouse with programable extra buttons. Logitec does a great job with their GUI to add those "special" features. I also use a separate USB numeric keypad. It is mapped using Sonar`s key bindings. Don B Win 7 64 bit, Sonar X1 PE Expanded, MOTU MKIII, Dynaudio monitors, BX8 monitors. Boss BR-80 micro, M-audio Fast track USB. I used to use a keyboard/touchpad combo but that was through neccesity as my keyboard draw wasn't wide enough for separates. I thought I preferred it to a mouse. Then I upgraded my keyboard draw shelf for a wider model, (no expense spared ) dusted off my separate keyboard and mouse, and started to fly. The difference was huge in terms of work speed almost as noticeable in speed terms as the introduction of screensets.

Mouse and Graphics tablet here... I use the graphics tablet with pen to do all of my graphical pitch corrections. It's fun to draw in slides, scoops, and bends with the pen. The pen doesn't like the faders though. so mouse there.

Yeah, Pen tablet is excellen except for moving faders and turning knobs in Sonar. Too bad they don't have better support for it. Other than that, my wrist and my guitars thank me every day for using a small and cheap Bamboo tablet. Also I'm left handed but use the mouse with my right so I can rest my mouse arm and use my left with the pen instead. Good stuff!

Mouse, but I am sure I could transition to touchpad or whatever comes along. I thought when I got my V 700 Console sometime back I would never get use to it - but I am as a familiar with it as I am using the mouse. Change is hard, but you can teach an old dog new tricks if the old dog is willing to learn and stay up with technology. We use to all have beepers for God's sake and thought that was hi-tech. Now we can't live without our smartphones.

Another interface I've used in the past for some functions is a Nostromo n52 SpeedPad I had from my previous online gaming period. It's a controller for your left hand that allows for multiple banks of keystroke captured macros and other mapped control clusters. I tried in the past to integrate it into my Sonar workflow, but ended up not using it. I've thought about it recently and might give it a try once again to see if I can find a use for it. From the Belkin website: The Nostromo SpeedPad n52 doesn't limit its functionality to just games. It's also engineered to use with any business application that requires the use of multiple keystrokes to preform common tasks like graphical programs and word processors with the easy to use macro recorder.

2 lcd screens with Sonar console on the rt side. Mackie MCU, mostly for transport, but also to arm a track once I've stood up and ready to go into the tracking rm. Monitor Station to mute the nearfields. Tranzport while in the tracking room. Mouse for everything else. It would be SWEET to have a tablet to replace the console, MCU, Monitor Station and Tranzport, or at minimum the console, MCU & Tranzport. Are we there yet? I haven't been keeping up lately.
