Do you see colors...

when you hear music?

I'm sorry if I've asked this before...may be just a Deja Vu but
anyway...

I've seen teaching methods that are based on one getting use
to seeing a color when hearing a particular chord or altered chord.

I guess many do or can because of the "biggy" most have probably heard..."the brown sound"- when
talking about EVH's guitar.

So what color is a major?
What color is minor?

Somewhere....over the...nevermind.

Yes and no it is more like texture a blend of colour and substance that is like a thickening or molding of the air.  This flows changes its form, its luminance, its feel, its opacity and translucence.

    I don't. I wish I did. I've tried to.
I think it's a very interesting concept- linking sight and sound.
Not sure if it's something that be acquired with practice....I don't
know how to practice it so I haven't.

    Here's something I copied....
There are numerous arbitrary arrangements setting forth the mutual relationships of the planets, the colors, and the musical notes. The most satisfactory system is that based upon the law of the octave. The sense of hearing has a much wider scope than that of sight, for whereas the ear can register from nine to eleven octaves of sound the eye is restricted to the cognition of but seven fundamental color tones, or one tone short of the octave. Red, when posited as the lowest color tone in the scale of chromatics, thus corresponds to do, the first note of the musical scale. Continuing the analogy, orange corresponds to re, yellow to mi, green to fa, blue to sol, indigo to la, and violet to si (ti). The eighth color tone necessary to complete the scale should be the higher octave of red, the first color tone. The accuracy of the above arrangement is attested by two striking facts: (1) the three fundamental notes of the musical scale--the first, the third, and the fifth--correspond with the three primary colors--red, yellow, and blue; (2) the seventh, and least perfect, note of the musical scale corresponds with purple, the least perfect tone of the color scale.

HA! Well it made me smile a lot but I was convinced the government was putting microchips in my toothpaste to control my thoughts, so I stopped brushing for a few years. Luckily I still have 3 good teeth.

    This garden universe vibrates complete
Some, we get a sound so sweet
Vibrations reach on up to become light
And then through gamma, out of sight

Between the eyes and ears there lie
The sounds of colour and the light of a sigh
And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe
But it's all around if we could but perceive

To know ultraviolet, infrared and X-rays
Beauty to find in so many ways
Two notes of the chord, that's our full scope
But to reach the chord is our life's hope
And to name the chord is important to some
So they give it a word, and the word is...

So some of the blame goes directly to him?

Let's face it.  Mind altering substances have to have something to work with.  In his case, they didn't have much to go on.

In 1706 Newton created the first color wheel using 7 colors based on the wavelength of light and correlates them to the 7 tones of the diatonic scale.

In 1706 the first 12 tone color scale was presented.

In 2001 The first spectrum color music patent is filed.

In 2002 Sibelius music notation software becomes the first company to provide Spectrum Color for sheet music creation.
In 2007 Apple’s Logic digital audio, midi, and notation software is the first comprehensive software to employ Spectrum Color for every aspect of musical creation.
In 2010 Virtuoso 3.0 was released as the first electronic music education system in Spectrum Color with all files being in electronic sheet music format, including over 400 songs from common repertoire.

FWIW there is more to the color thing than I know.
