bit bridge is seems to work perfectly fine
    I doubt that..

are you running Win7@64bit ? Sonar X1b@64bit ? then that could already explain those dropouts..

run the DPC latency checker tool to see if your laptop is not causing these dropouts..

external drive for audio ? hm,.. not a good idea.. use the internal, it should do, or upgrade to an internal 7200rpm drive if you're running out of resources..

why is latency not an issue ? what audiointerface are you using ?

    edit
and disable the 64bit audio engine, it's will be much lighter on your system

    laptop:

I don't know if I made sense with the TB audio data, but what I mean is that of course I record with the on-board drive but when I'm completely done with a song (mixed down, exported) I move it all to the external hard drive for storage.

Yes, Win7 and X1b both at 64 bit.

    Interface: http://tascam.com/product/us-144mkii/

Yes I've used the latency checker and I've experimented with the suggested tweaks from Soundwater, Presonus, and KVR.

I'm saying that with soft synths like Dimension Pro, Session Drummer, or Groove Synth it works perfectly but it only clicks and pops with VSTs that I've downloaded from other sources.

*just disabled and I'm listening to old projects now and testing the synths to see*

two things are holding me back from doing this:

    1) http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2304794

    2) I only installed the 64bit back when I first booted Sonar.

If I go back to "re-install" can I just check the install box that says "32bit?" I don't want to have to go through rearranging and relocating folders (unless I seriously have to).
