Does CCC need an existing Sonar installation before it will install ? - Fixed

Hi all, well, my C: drive finally went 'boom' a week ago, so I decided to replace it with a Sandisk 240GB SSD. I can retrieve my backups on an external 3TB WD drive, so I decided to upgrade my Win 7 Home Edition to Win 7 Professional and do a clean rebuild from my Acronis True Image files rather than re-image. So, having re installed my drivers for my audio interface and MIDI devices, I downloaded CCC from my Cakewalk account, and it comes up with the following error message on installation.

'Cannot locate the required version of the program on this system. Please install the correct version of the program to use this pack.'

The message is ambiguous as it you cant tell if it is referring to CCC or a Sonar install. I only want to run Platinum on this system, as the system before had every version of Sonar from 8.0 upwards installed.

So, do I have to install, say X3 in order for the CCC to install properly, I am prepared to wait for a definitive answer rather than install / uninstall as I want to make this new system as mean and clean as possible.

Any insights?

Regards

It sounds like C3 needs some MS runtime DLLs that aren't installed on your system. I'm not sure why they won't be installed though.

From my backup, I used my original download version of CCC, which installed OK, it then asked me if I wanted to upgrade to the latest version, which I let it do, and it downloaded and successfully installed, so I got where i wanted, albeit through a circuitous route. Fixed, but not really sure why the latest version CCC wouldn't install when downloaded directly from my Cakewalk account, however I post the fix here should anyone in the future encounter the same problem on a rebuild.

As an addendum, I have replaced my C; drive with a SanDisk Ultra II SSD, and it is blisteringly fast. Without doubt the single most effective way to give a huge performance boost to any system.
