Does EZ drummer 1 work inX3 studio?

I've been using Toontrack EZ Drummer 1 and EZ Mix 1 with Home Studio 6 for years. Recently I bought X3 and I'm learning it.
 
I did the VST scan and add folder in the manager and I got EZ mix to show up, but, EZ drummer will not add.
 
Does EZ Drummer 1 not work with X3?
 
any help would be appreciated

    IIRC it does pick it up  but its not named ezdrummer in your list, I have since upgraded to ezd2 so I cannot check but I think it shows up as DFH something or another.

    That sounds right. There was a change starting with X2a, I believe, where the plug-in name is read from a value inside the plug-in. There is a variable in Cakewalk.ini called VSTPlugInNameFormat which can change the way the scanner creates plug-in names. Read about the variable here https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR%20X3&language=3&help=INI_Files.4.html. The value can be changed in Preferences > File > Initialization File. To see the Initialization File option, make sure Advanced is selected at the bottom of the Preferences dialog

    Does EZ Drummer 2 automatically load in X3 without having to do this name change initialization? Or even if i buy EZ DRummer 2, I'll still have to do the name change thing?

    0 = VST Name
    1 = DLL Name
    2 = VST Name (DLL Name)

    and if so, how do I know what numbers or characters to write in the fields under Option and Value?
     
    I do not want to mess up everything thats already working... I just want it to see EZ Drummer.

    There should be no need to change anything to load the original EZD. IIRC, the original EZD was patched some time ago to show the correct name. Very old versions of EZD show up as dfh. If you have dfh in your plug-in list, it is an old version of EZD. If you don't have dfh or EZdrummer in the list it is a different problem, such as only having the 32bit version of EZD installed while running 64bit SONAR or the plug-in is not in the scan path. EZD definitely works with X3.

    Yeah what scook said it was version 1.0 that had the different name I seem to remember later versions fixing it but it was some time ago now I dont remembr exactly, as for ezd2 yes it shows up perfect right out of the box (and is pretty awesome too even if you already have ezd1)

    Got it! Its called DfhSampler and it does work, showed up properly and worked properly. Thank you!

    so what does EZ drummer 2 do, that ez drummer 1 does not? Just curious

    It has a bunch of stuff that is really nice for non drummers trying to make drum tracks on the quick and easy, check out some videos here https://www.youtube.com/user/Toontrack/videos They do a better job of explaining things that I ever could, bu overall its like they took everything you liked about ezd1 and made it better, and added lot more customising stuff too. It's a nice package.
