*** Does Sonar have tempo/time stretch functionality similar to this? ***

Thought this tempo/time stretching functionality was pretty cool. Wondering if Sonar is capable of something similar. http://www.youtube.com/us...7TV#p/u/42/P7qAZXb-u5Q

Hmm... Well Sonar is about $363 by now. Guess Sonar will cost $599 (just like Cubase) or more when all those features will be incorporated. Sadly enough it will be too expensive for me by then...

Yeah Cubase has been catching my eye lately with version 6.  Stopped using it back on the first version of SX but they seem to really be stepping it up recently.  Do you feel that functionality in Sonar is not as advanced in comparison to Cubase?

Similar, yes, but you'll never get that kind of transparency with SONAR's stretching algorithms when the tempo change is that extreme, and SONAR always preserves pitch; it can't do the tape-stop style slow-down.

I'm pretty sure this is the algorithm they are using:

A few other DAW companies license it as well.

I don't see that Elastique Pitch does stretching/resampling; looks like only pitch shifting. I also noticed "Plugin latency: 150ms @48kHz". That would explain the high-quality "real-time" results. SONAR's real-time Groove-Clip stretching algorithm adds no latency. But the offline algorithms still aren't as smooth as what I heard in the video.

You have to take all this with a grain of salt in any case because I'm sure the audio material was carefully chosen to show off the algorithm to best effect.
