Does a backpack eat stuff??
OK, I've watched endless amounts of Dora The Explorer and Go Diego Go (they pay me to do it - ish) and I just can't figure out why that back pack keep saying "Delicious" at the end of it's little segment. Why would a backpack say "Delicious" regarding it's own content??! Oh, and here's another: Why can't Diego shut up??! Wish I worked as an accountant or something....

LOL - the reply I got in my e-mail was spot on Julien! Yeah, metal is what probably keep me going with this. OK, every now and then I'm working on a project that is fun, with great and enthusiastic people and when the project is done - all is swell in Marius land. But this - oh man, if I ever get kids, I'll punish them if I catch them watching it!!! Not sure if this makes me stronger though... It definitely makes me older. If it wasn't such a hassle I'd go full time composer and musician again! Or maybe do the night shift at 7/11? I hate childrens cartoons...

As a veteran PTSD sufferer of these particular two cartoons, my 3 little ones have been banned from asking to watch. In the States, Dora's bagpack actually says "delicioso". Of all the animals they rescue in Go Diego Go, his little pet jaguar that accompanies him on these rescues is the only animal that doesn't speak. PTSD is always triggered when the music starts to play as the decibel levels are dramatically increased and startles those of us that are in a peaceful slumber. We, now like Kipper The Dog.

PTSD? Post Dramatic Stress Disorder? Tell me about it...! Ah, I actually keep forgeting. All the Spanish is English in the Norwegian version (and most other european version I think). But "Delicioso" is is "Delicious", right? My Spanish is limited to ordering 1-5 beers. Actually, the Pet Jaguar speaks all the time now, but isn't in all the episodes. And I'm happy with that. Because when the pet Jaguar is with Diego, Diego will speak slightly less and whatever that little brat says is like nails on a black board in my ears! How on earth do they come up with all that crap??! I used to be ambitious - how did I end up doing this??!!

Keep telling yourself, "Someday, they will outgrow it. Someday, they'll be too old for these shows. Someday, they'll be too cool/mature/sophisticated for Dora and Diego. That's when I'll pull out old copies and hideously embarass the brats in front of their friends." Revenge is a dish best served muy frio... Rawr Raaawwwrrrr! (Baby Jaguar imitation)

Maybe there is something in the back pack saying delicious. I have never watched this particular cartoon. I recently bought some cartoon DVDs with close to 22 hours of cartoons on them for kids when they come over. I found myself watching a few of them. Some of those cartoons I watched when I was a kid. I realize things have come a really long way since then. Ren and Stimpy were the first time I recall hearing a cartoon farting in the bathtub, kind of threw me for a loop lol. You probably could use a little fresh air and to get away from it for a little awhile. Doing that kind of thing for hours on end would get to anybody I think. I know it would me.

Sure will Bubba - I just need to find the time to read the rest. So far so cool Starise - that's the second time I've heard about Ren and Stimpy. Still haven't checked it out. Need to do that. Sometimes I work with cool cartoons too. Spongebob being one I like, Kick Buttowski and Imagination Movers being two others. Some movies have been great. but I'm sick and tired of versioning now so I'm looking for something that doesn't include all the other rubbish! Fresh air you say? What is that and where can I find some? Julien - I got an e-mail from the forum with your pre-edited post, not an e-mail from you directly. You know, I get an e-mail when someone posts below one of my posts, which is generated by the forum software. Sorry about that But I thought your reply was pretty good so I decided to respond to that.

Only read the first 10 pages so far but enjoying it a lot! About the children doing all the stuff that Dora & Diego asks.....fortunately, only my 3 year old (now 4) did some of those and only on selctive things that she liked. On the positive side, both my 6 yr old & 4 yr old have learnt about animals, their habitats, and important facts which they've explained to me in unrelated conversations. I think it's been about a yr. since they last watched. When I saw all the garbage that Nickelodeon and other "childrens" cartoon network/shows that are being produced, we too decided to get rid of the cable box (now Roku+), and the little ones have totally embraced the good old fashioned reading of books. On Saturday mornings, they do get to watch some cartoons, but seem to get bored with it soon after and prefer to go outside to play in the backyard. @ Bubba: Your book is definitely on my list (especially since I'm a big fan of all your writings here) of things to get....

Wow! That's amazing that they actually do that stuff. But I can understand it gets boring for them. It's really, really repetative. Most parents I've talked to over here say their kids can't be borhtered at all. I'm happy to hear that they learn something. I always thought the educational aspect was buried in the nonsense and fiction. I guess there's a reason why I'm not that billionare who creates this show When/if I get kids, I'll do my best to limit their TV-time. The amount of crap I've seen over the years - while geting paid - makes me hoping that they won't even see a tenth of it. So much of it is just a waste of time IMHO. I'll have my nap time while they read in stead Sounds like you've raised a healthy gang there Mesh

LOL Karyn, good list there Cow and Chicken - I hate it I Am Weasle - Hmmm.... don't think I know that one. Ed, Edd and Eddie - worked on it, enjoyed it, watched it, ANNOYING!! Power Puff Girls - don't get me started on the PPGs!! Dexter's Lab - Kind of like it, but the Norwegian version is slightly BS, even though the versioning isn't half bad. Let me add Squirrelboy - one of the best I have worked on. But I'm guessing it would annoy the daylight out of parents. Julien - The forum does what the forum wants.
