Does anyone use the Tascam US-600

i've had nothing but headaches with mine, wow  I've tried everything, I've got it where it works fair during playback. But as soon as I stop playback, I get a "drop out" message, and the engine stops. It seems like I have to unpower then reup sometimes to get it back on track. It has a wall wort for power.  Sometimes the drop out happens during playback.  Since upgrading to Win 7 64 bit I had to deep six my m-audio delta-66 and went for the Tascam US-600.  I don't know if it's using a USB interface or is it just the Tascam US-600.  I've always had very good performance and luck with Tascam, maybe they've been purchased or restructured or what ever, I don't know, but this is really starting to piss me off............

Thanks for any help,
Dan

Why did you have to deep six your Delta66 because of Windows 7 64-bit? I've been using a Delta 44 since a little after Windows 7 was released. There are drivers available on the M-Audio site.

Make sure the US-600 is plugged into a USB port on the computer, not on a USB hub.

Also, make sure its a USB2 (Not USB 3) port. Someone else had a problem with a USB3 port with this device.

Dave, thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunetly I've tried all those. I posted the topic here and ALL of the users I talked to had to stop using their m-audio delta equiptment. And recomended USB interfaces because supposedly manufactures have been slacking on standard PCI support.   I've been using computers since the comadore 64 for music purposes (damn I turned 63 at midnight, sigh) so I've had the chance to explore and learn for quite some time.  I'm using, of course, the latest M-Audio 64 bit Delta 66 windows 7 drivers and all drivers on my machine are the lateset.  I've tried all the usual tactics I've learned over the years like changing the pci slot I use, and usb slots never using a usb hub.  I have all the usb root hubs in the device manager set so that the computer can't cut power to any usb port as it sees fit and on and on and on.  Sigh, I'll keep trying.  I do have a Blu-ray USB 3 burner which works very nicely, but even though USB is supposed to be totally backward compatible I only use USB 3 ports (I have 2) for USB devices (I have one, the burner).  Thanks for your help though.  If you hear of anything, let me know, alright ??  And vice versa , Thanks

    Happy Birthday.

That's too bad about the misinformation on the Delta equipment. The Delta had Windows 7 64-bit drivers early on. I had to replace my MIDISport because they didn't have drivers for almost 6 months.

Do you have any USB2 ports you could plug the USB-600 into? Someone else with a US-800 said theirs wouldn't work on USB3. Check with TASCAM on that.

I guess I wasn't clear. I DON"T use the two usb 3 ports except for the one I use for my external usb 3 blu-ray DVD burner. I have plenty of of USB 2 ports and use one of them for my Tascam US-600.  There is no misinfo on the Delta equipment.  I've been using the win 7  64 bit drivers from the M-Audio site since I started with Win 7 64 bit.  Can you tell me what version of the drivers you use for your Delta equipment ?  I have never plugged my US-600 into a usb 3 port, it's always been in USB 2 ports.  If you go on the M-Audio site forum, and look around on the delta threads, you'll see how many people have problems with "snap, crackle, and pop" with their delta products.  Thanks.

If you're trying to use the Delta and the US-600 at the same time, then you can't use the ASIO drivers. ASIO drivers only allow one soundcard at a time. Using more than one soundcard, especially if they are not the same model, is not recommended because you may get timing issues since they may have different clock speeds. If you must use both, switch them to WDM mode.

I use one card only when using Sonar X1d and Tascam says use WDM/KS with the US-600. Thanks

Sorry to hear of your nightmare, but guess what?,I had one for 28days and yep, constant warnings,"device being used blah blah",it got to the point I was scared to turn on Sonar.

My experience was solved by getting a Cakewalk UA25-EX which is only USB 1.1,but it NEVER stops and uses a dedicated ASIO driver.

The salesman assurred me the UA was was USB 2.0 but it's NOT,but man, does it work a million times better than that Tascam, get rid of it quick,Tascam does not care[otherwise they would have written a new driver...still on ver. 1.0.]
    Bob

PS, I too used Tascam products since 83,all with great success,so yes,I was utterly perplexed by the NON functionality of the US-600,AND the fact that it was over a year ago that the Win7 x64 drivers have NOT been up-dated.

It seems like Tascam have changed a lot,for instance the US-2400 looks like a great piece of gear, that is now useless for 64bit Win 7/Sonar X1....unless I'm mistaken, but when it comes to the US600 and X1/Win7 x64,Iam certainly not.
