Does this sound bass heavy, or muddy??

Hi guys..  if you can lend an ear, and your thoughts, as to whether or not this sounds bass heavy..   the project has multiple bass lines, combined with very think sound design, and very heavy compression settings, and I am wondering if this type of mix, would really muddy the mess out of A; car stereo, B; huge club system, C; large PA assuming..  I have a massive bon jovi size PA in my closet.   lol..

Does this sound bass heavy?

Thanks

Jon, I don't think this is too heavy or muddy from the bass perspective.  In fact, I thinks it's a bit under processed.  It sounds very dry to me, and this could easily be fixed by adding a little delay on the bass drum.  A time based delay set to an eighth note (or whatever's appropriate) with little feedback so as to only give one delay could elevate this to the next level.  Even a very short reverb might make this pop better without overwhelming the other instruments.  The  rest of the track is cool and could find a home in those places you mentioned.

    All the best,
    Lynn

    Hi Lynn,

Sorry for the delayed response..  Oct - Jan, are very busy months for me.  Thank you so much for lending my track a moment, and I really appreciate the confirmation that its not bass heavy :-)

I totally hear you on the delay/verb and adding some more space or wetness to specifically, "the kick."  You are right, the mix is on the dryer side.  Part of me is trying to keep my tracks minimally produced, until I figure out what to do with or about vocalists.  Part of me is really needing to not be afraid to put more fx on the drums!!  I just get so worried about low frequencies getting lost, or muddied..   but I guess I'm doing it too dry, and should not be so spooked..

Wow..  I am tired today, so I just want to say, "thanks again," for the help,

    Ttyl
    Cheers

The only problem I noticed w/ the bass on these little bitty computer speakers is the bass ain't well-defined.  Probably more an indictment of the medium, not the message.  On the break it isn't a problem, but the bass sounds a little weak, but these speakers don't have any umph so that may be the problem again.

The only reason I mention problem w/ these speakers is translation.  A lot of people will be listening on such or ear buds, which means all kinds of compromises between sounding great on full range monitors or disappearing or blooming bass.  It is a tough row to hoe.

For me it needs to be played in a club environment to get the full effect.
