Don't you just hate it when...
.. you spend hours ages a while hand soldering a D15 (VGA) plug to a multi-core cable only to find you have to take it off again because you forgot to put the stupid strain relief gromit on the cable first.. AAARRGGHHH!!!

Indeed--and it always happens when you get the solder joint perfect the first time and that's what you have to undo.

AAARRGGHHH!!! I wouldn't ever be THAT stupid. (or would I?) Even if I was the grommet would stay off and I'd likely botch some sort of strain-reliever with a hot glue gun. Not that it has ever happened to me, you understand. Oh, no.

It's a lot quicker to remove than it was to glue solder it on.

I did something even stupider than that! I was putting in a patch panel between my "studio" room and the closet to the room adjacent to it so I could use that closet as a vocal booth. I had 2 panels, one for the wall on the studio side and one for the wall on the closet side. each panel had 2 XLR and 2 TRS connectors on them. I soldered 4 cables between the 2 panels...... BEFORE I routed the cable between the walls.

Karyn LOL Beag, thank you. I feel much better now. yep. I felt REALLY stupid. I had to desolder one panel, route the cables thru the wall and then resolder. I was SO mad at myself!

More than once here on this end..and in so many different ways.... Soldering.....and then there is the pulling of wire on a job site.... nothing like making a hard wire pull, and popping out 2 ceiling tiles..... pulling the wire to that place..... then completing the second part of the pull from the 2 tiles out location..... only to discover as I am placing all the tiles along the hallway back into the grid, that I accidentally "looped under" the ceiling grid itself and the wire has to come back out to that point.... In the case you mentioned..... black electrical tape would be a choice and an option.

Remember a year or so ago someone came here asking for help with some XLR thing he was doing in his studio? I think you helped him a lot Karyn. Can't remember how that turned out.

I can relate too. I put my boots on many mornings before I realize I didn't even have my pants on...then it gets worse... I find out I need socks and underwoos too. What kinda upsets me about it is I thought that was one of the reasons I got married. Well at least I'm not hungry.
