"Don't Do It (Just let it go)" - mid '60s/Beatles vibe

https://soundcloud.com/jmasno5/dont-do-it-just-let-it-go

"Don't Do It (Just let it go)" is my conscience attempt at making a mid '60s/Beatles sounding tune.  Here are some of the ingredients.

Two Epiphone Casinos
Tech 21's Liverpool pedal
Waves REDD 51
Waves Reel ADT
Waves J37 Tape
Dimension Pro Vox Organ
Native Instruments Abbey Road 60's Drummer

I had to help out the kick drum a little with a tone generator to get more bottom.  I don't think they did that in the 60's...

The organ bit at the end is my tribute to John Lennon when he played the Vox organ with his elbow at Shea Stadium during “I'm Down” while he and George laughed their asses off.  A great moment.

I hope you like it. Maybe some fellow Beatles enthusiasts will get a kick out of it.  Let me know what you think. Thanks for listening.

Nice period piece, I like it.  It reminds me more of the Dave Clark Five, but cool anyway.  I'm glad to hear how your production tools sound, as they sound quite vintage.  Good job!

Thanks Lynn!  I think I might agree with you about Dave Clark Five. Maybe overall, a British Invasion sound?

Just a great listen.  I like it when a song makes me feel good.  This one did.  Everything was really well done but I especially loved the vocals.  Nah, I liked it all!  Has the feel you were looking for but also a modern sound, like indy or something.

Thanks everyone. I'm happy you like it. A lot of credit goes to my friend, Ben. He played the solo and arpeggios. The only instruction I gave him was I was thinking along the lines of "She's A Woman" solo with double stops. He emailed me his parts and I was amazed. A perfect fit.

any time you use the Beatles as a starting point it has to be good!!

The "it will entomb you, it will consume you" line sounds like something John Lennon would have said.

Nice modern Beatlesque sound.  Good job!

Would you consider double-tracking (or ADTing) the lead vocal?  It doesn't need it but it would be coolio.

Thanks Konrad and everyone.  Yes, I did in fact use Waves Reel ADT on the vocal.  I kind of like it a lot but tried not to make it too obvious.  It was one of these things where it was noticeable when I turned it off.  I manually doubled the vocal in the bridge.

Love the guitar solo.  The songs kinda reminds me of "My Sharona" in the verses.  Sounds like you had fun with this.

Took me back to the swinging 60s. Great work all round, production, vocals, lyrics and guitar solo, all perfectly attuned to the sound of the 60s, very English.

LOL That's what I said! I picked up my guitar and played G7 and thought, "time to write a Beatles type song." It's like they own 7th chords in my head.

Ok...this song sounds like it came from my parent's stereo on the weekends when I was a kid and they were smoking pot and partying on tequila with their friends when they thought I was playing in my room.
