Wow, Bob! What Beagle said. How do you get such a powerful kick sound without sending the level meters to the moon? Do the drum samples come pre-processed with compression, etc.?

Oh yeah Bob, this is fantastic..love that bass line when it comes in at 0:27, that's pure Deep Purple. Nasty riff and the drums are great on this one. Cool 'talky' bits too, nicely done. Top track Bob

Hi Bob Wow...been away for almost 8 months and everyone's game has just rocketed up. and this is no exception. Great tune, great guitar tone, great vocals. On my reference monitors; I'd like to hear a more beefy treatment to the drums. Well done Bob!

Bob, I always enjoy the bone crushing tone you conjure up. I liked the song as well. Now for the buts, I feel that you could move this to the explosive category if the timing in places were tighter.

Beagle: Hi, Reece, Thank you very much, kind sir! I always look forward to and greatly appreciate your input and observations. By the way, dynamite job on your new blues number with Grant and Rich, really good, fun stuff, my friend! Have a great night, Bob ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scottytunes: Hey, Scotty, Thank you, brother, I really appreciate you taking a listen and your kind words! As for the kick drum, I use Steven Slate Drums which has a bit of pre processing on them, although I don't think there's really much processing on the kick drum out of the box. Then with the etire mix playing, I use the Sonitus EQ to sweep the kick drum track to find both the fundamental "oomph" and upper "clack" frequencies of the kick, and then give them each a slight boost on the Sonitus. The frequencies and boost amount are always slightly different for each song, depending on what the other backing instruments sound like together in the mix. I then do some complimentary EQ on the bass guitar tracks by pulling down the same frequencies on the Sonitus for the bass track. Then I run all the drums through my drums bus, with the Voxengo Analog Flux Tape-Op for some tape saturation. Then through the PX-64 Percussion Strip, and do some tweaking to the PX-64 compressor and EQ modules, and then finally blend in just a light touch of the PX-64 saturation. Hope this answers your question clearly enough , and thanks again for all your input, advice and support over the past couple of years, Scott. I greatly appreciate your friendship, have a good one! phenomenal Bob. No crits here. Just great all around. As far as ideas go. I think you could build on the chorus towards the end. Where you're going now "don't think twice" all within a beat (1/2 time). add to it with like a choir of voices way back "don't think twice" on the 1, 2, 3. hope that makes sense. just a thought. not at all necessary.

notnat: Hey, Frank, Thanks so much for giving this a listen and for your very encouraging words! I truly appreciate your input, especially because of the outstanding quality of your musicianship and production skills, your opinion always means a great deal to me. Thanks again, Frank, have a great weekend, buddy! Bob ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- markno999: Hi, Mark, Thanks for checking in on this one for me, and for your kind words! Yeah, "The Nuge" was definitely one of my early influences. I still remember one of my early cover bands doing doing most of the stuff of his first three albums, when Derek St. Holmes was still the lead singer on most of the songs. We did, "Hey Baby", "Where You Been All My Life", "Dog Eat Dog", "Stormtroopin", "Stranglehold", Cat Scratch Fever" and probably six others. I must have seen Ted live in concert at least a dozen times over the years, and he always put on a monster show and is still a great player! By the way, nice work on your recent VH cover with Robby, good stuff, Mark! Thanks again, and have a great weekend! Great rockin tunage Bob! The vocal part where it's more talk/rap, could come up a bit. 2 or 3db? The break at 2:06 and again at the end. Is that by design? It just sounds off to me. Another great bit of work!

hey Bob i love the opening riff and chorus on this one. not wholly convinced by segue at 2'04 but it's a brief thing before we get the middle 8 and outro (repeat of the 2'04 figure). sounds very good, i'd like a ballad from you now though!

It's kind of weird, on the wav file they sound perfect, but on the mp3 they do sound a little louder, I'll bet that the mp3 encoding is squeezing them a bit. Hi Bob, Another killer tune from you! Love the way you've used fx to separate the vocal parts. With or without fx your vocals always sound great and this tune is no exception. Great drum sound you're getting here. Nice guitar riff at 2:06. Very cool stuff, Bob.

I liked the mix overall - nice vocal fx , but a few nits to my ears ...... I thought the intro was a bit long, the talking style vox could come up a little , hi-hats down a little and that guitar part around 2:04 and at the end doesn't really work for me. As I'm sure you know I'm not any kind of expert, especially in this genre, but just how it sounded to me.

I'm listening on the laptop, so "with a grain of salt..." The snare seems a little too much? I hesitate to say ANYTHING about the mix listening on "Dude..." A Dell. It seemed like it took a while to get to the vox? (the intro felt a little long) I really like the lead there after 2:00, then the change in modulation and style, and then the change again. That was pretty cool. And the speaking part w/the telephone effect, really cool :-) Good job Bob.

Bob, Another solid tune bro. The intro was a little longer than conventional, but what the hell right? I like the vocals, hats seem a little hot to me. I like the guitar bridge at 2:07 and at the end "I" would make them a little longer and at the one on the end wait 4 counts just guitar& then go hyper on the drums along with it.... think like the end of the RHCP version of higher ground. Just a thought.
