Double MIDI Notes

Is there a way to delete all the double midi notes? What I mean is I have a kick where sometimes a kick is on top of each other and so it makes it louder. Is there a quick way to rebuild the kick so there are no doubles?

Cal program named undupe or purchase Frank's Midi PlugIns
    For $34.95, it's a great mfx bundle.

There's a CAL script called UNDUPE that I just used to remove duplicate notes. So I'd clone that track to make a backup, then select one track to select all the notes and then run UNDUPE.

Difference being - The cal script is free and it's been out and about for at roughly 15 years if I'm recalling even close.

Yes, like you said. I thought I'd toss in a visual aid since CAL scripts can be very hard to find if someone doesn't already know where they are.

As you can see my kick is mixed with all the other drum heads, is there an option in undupe to specifically fix the kick only and not other drum heads?

Undupe will work on whatever notes are selected. To select only the notes that trigger the kick drum, open the PRV and click the piano key/drum name on the left that corresponds with that note. Clicking that note will select all the kick drum notes. So click that and then run undupe.

Unless I misunderstand your problem, it should simply done without any new software. Just erase/delete the midi notes in the piano roll before bouncing to audio. it ony takes a minute and it is extremely easy to locate and remove any unwanted notes.

It's not so easy when the notes he wants to delete are in the exact same spot as the notes he wants to keep.

The reason I want to get rid of those double notes is because it is building up into a very loud kick. If I simply bounce to audio, The kick will still be loud. And if you mean delete all of the doubles one by one, I have to say sorry to that.

You have other options, too. You could reduce the velocity of the kick drum midi notes. You could cut the kick drum notes out of the Midi track and paste them into another so you could lower the volume of that audio track. You could use multiple outputs on the drum synth and put the kick on its own output, allowing you to change the volume of the kick in relation to the other drum sounds. You could clone the midi track and delete all the kick drum notes in one and all the non-kick drum notes in the other. I still think undupe is the best solution, though.

When I set up my SD3 I made sure that each drum head had their own track. So it is not just the matter of putting up the volume fader because only certain kicks are loud due to the doubles. Then again rreducing the velocity of the kick drum midi notes would take time to do this manually unless there is a one shot go for the whole thing. I will stick to the Undupe method, but thanks though.

It's not so easy when the notes he wants to delete are in the exact same spot as the notes he wants to keep.

And it'll take a lot longer than a minute if he's got several hundred hits to audition.

Another option is to get the drum midi track visible in the staff view.

Any duplicated notes are immediately visible as they will appear on both sides of the note "stalk"

Just use the erase tool and click away at the duplicates

If for some reason, the delete action deletes BOTH notes on the stalk, a quick ctrl+z (undo) will restore just ONE note to the stalk - this is exactly what you want.
