Down loaded Lame... Now what?
Hi everyone. I down loaded the Lame MP3 encoder but I don't know how to set it up to use in CWMC Pro. Dell Dimension , Widows XP SP2 , 256+512 Mb Ram , 30 Gb Hard drive, Sound Max. I need to have this done so that I can upload songs that I have to Sound Click and Motagator (spelling?) . Thanks in advance for any help.

O. K. - This is the blind leading the blind again. Is this Cakewalk's version of Lame or from another source? It would be my guess that Cakewalk has their own version that will only work with Cakewalk products. [since they are selling it and I haven't heard of any other Lame version working in CW.] Someone who actually bought Cakewalks version could best tell you how to get it working. When I downloaded Audcacity I also got their free Lame. When I began an MP3 save, the program asked me the location of the Lame file and once I gave the location, Audacity automatically loaded Lame. I suspect that the Cakewalk version is something similar. But, what do I know? :-)

Just dl CWENC. It'll integrate into MC as easily as the MP3 encoder did.

joe - I thought that the last batch of upgrades for all CW products disabled that availability. I don't think that cwenc will "integrate" with MC3 or SHS4 or Sonar any more. You can use it stand alone (and that's what I do), but not from inside CW.

I thought the post was about MCPro, which is 2, right? If not, then you're right, I believe. I use Sony's MP3 encoder myself.

I just use DBPoeramp for all MP3 conversions, it is great.

Thanks for the quick responses. Miller Bill as far as which version it was I tried to access it through Audacity. And like you I tried to save a MP3 file and it asked me to locate the file but when I did that Audacity could not open that library or something to that effect. I extracted the zip folder and it's on the desk top but that's as far as I got. Joeh20-444 , Apparently the cwenc doesn't apply to Pro or Sonar 4 ( that's what I have ) so I'm stuck there. Beagle , You are probably right about the disabling of availability. So how do you manage to use it as a stand alone unit? Robomusic , I could not locate the DB poweramp that you mentioned a while back. I'm thinking that I just might have to suck it up and purchase the original Cakewalk MP3 encoder. Your thoughts gentlemen?

ACkk! Sorry, Joe, he did say CWMC Pro in the original post! Pardon me while I get my foot out! But here: Joeh20-444 , Apparently the cwenc doesn't apply to Pro or Sonar 4 ( that's what I have ) so I'm stuck there. Beagle , You are probably right about the disabling of availability. So how do you manage to use it as a stand alone unit? He says it's BOTH... fixerman: if you've downloaded the latest version of cwenc and installed it, just click on it in the start menu and it will pop up a window to run independently of CW. and you don't need a separate download of lame for it.

One problem you may run into Fixer, with the DBpoweramp version is the same limited license for MP3 ** mp3 encoder on 30 day trial license The last version of DBPoweramp that I saw which included MP3 without a limited license was v. 8. I don't know if it is still available. It used to be here: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,22627,00.asp
