Down the Road - Alternative Rock/New Wave
Here is one I've been working on awhile. I decided to go for a different vibe than most my songs. Its a little bit more dynamic, quiet...than loud. And hope people see the improvement in quality from my other songs. I could probably spend more time mixing this and that, but I just want to post it and listen to advice. Please enjoy another rocker! http://www.soundclick.com...13&songID=10694017 *Ok so I changed the reverb on the vocals and made other small changes. Hopefully I got rid of the offending pitchiness that people discovered. Let me know what you think of the improvement.

very nice Faust vox are a little wet compared to the guitars and bass. are you the one singing? almost a Billy Idol influence. there are some places that could use some rework on the vox, tho. distorted and clean elec guitars are done well. I especially liked the clean, it was very well mixed into the song and well recorded.

Thanks DirtyHarry53, yeah its good to push your boundaries musically. Hey Beagle, thanks for the input. Yeah thats me singing :). I've done Billy Idol at Karaoke, maybe that's where the influence comes from. I realise the vocals are quieter in spots, I'll have to fix that when the time comes. I spent so much time on this one, probably will come back to remix it in a couple days... I'll take the reverb down a notch. I'm glad you like the guitars, I used a Rockman for all of them.

Sounds really nice. The guitars are very crisp and dynamic. Great tones. I agree with Beagle about the vocal processing. The vocals don't quite match the processing and dynamics of the other instruments - just a tad too compressed / too wet, and a little too far back. Once you get that straightened out a little the recording will be that much better. Great job!!

guitartrek Thanks for the feedback... I'll try that and make it a bit more crisp. Vocals are always the most work aren't they? Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, Steve, Very cool alternative punk song! This is really great, kind of a cross between Billy Idol and The Cars. Great playing, excellent vocals, and I really love the rich guitar tones, on both the shimmering clean and the punchy distorted guitars. I also like the good panning choices that you made for the mix, it sounds very clean and full, and everything has it's own space and texture. This is definitely my new favorite from you, dynamite job, buddy! Bob

Some pitchy spots on the vocal but the tone of the vocal is good, a little wet like Reece said. All in all a good tune. I like the guitar tone. Seems like the bass could be a bit "beefier". That depends on what you're going for. Good tune.

Bob - Thanks for the compliments! If you knew how much time I spent on this you'd think I'm crazy. Thanks for your advice... I actually used it alittle and did some vocal whispers. evadianepug - Thanks for listening. Glad you like it and appreciate the suggestions! I changed some of the stuff mentioned here like the vocal part that was alittle off and made it less wet. Good ear you have... "The bass"is pitch shifted from a guitar and unfortunately I didn't realize it was clipping too...it came out distorted, I just left it.

This is really a seriously great tune. Has a great 80's vibe to it. It may just be me but it sounded like the chorus-y lead guitar is a touch out of tune. The vocals sound pretty good, They didn't seem very wet to me at all so you did a good job fixing them. The distorted bass wasn't all that obvious as well. Guitars sound great!!!

I can imagine that you could easily pull off a convincing Billy Idol impersonation. Did you post this one before,' cos I just had the feeling I'd heard it somewhere before - maybe just a deja vu moment. I like the feel of this, but to my ears it could use a few synthy textures here and there and something to lift the chorus sections a little.

Paulo - You read my mind, I have started adding synthy parts in my songs and think the same thing. I'll have to come up with something. This is the first time I've posted this one, thanks for the Idol comparisons...
