Download X3e

I am on a much earlier version of X3.  Do I need to download and install all the missing versions between where I am now and X3e or can I go directly to version e?

This update is cumulative.
So go ahead install it without worry about other updates. Backing up is always recommended.

Well, you seem pretty smart on this matter - maybe you can help me: I received a notification of the latest update but when I "checked for updates" thru my X3 help menu it said I was up-to-date!? My current version is Sonar X3a Build 209. I purchased X3 as a download only 2 weeks ago. Don,t understand why it says up-to-date.

I would not worry about it, just install the patch (again backup first I suggest).

If Cakewalk is listening in, guys have you updated your servers to respond to this SOAP request? (I'm guessing it's SOAP).

Cheers...

Thanks for the fast response. What's the best way to back up?

Plenty of ways (please search for "backup" in the top right hand corner of this page).

I use Acronis TrueImage and backup to a server myself. However you could use an external USB hard drive instead of a server to keep things simple. You really need to get into backing up your entire computer on a periodic basis in case of any disaster (including hard drive failure, software failure etc) if it is important to you.

Hope this helps...

Yes. I do system restore points, File history backups, and created a recovery flash drive. I suppose I could copy all Cakewalk folders to an external hard drive in case the update screwed something up. Not that worried at this point. Worse comes to worse I delete all of Cakewalk and re-install it off the website. It's only 2 weeks old and don't have anything worth saving yet. Thnx.

Yup quite valid. However I definitely recommend True Image 2014 (not that expensive) as you always get a full backup that way (including the registry).

But please note you will not be able to restore Sonar by merely copying backed up files back to their original locations. More likely a reinstall will be necessary.

Maybe something to check out in future.

There's good free ones about too. Paid ones will have more features but are generally around scheduling. I use Macrium Reflect free - suits my purposes (and have restored from it successfully). Capable of selective restore as well as full image.

Thnx for the advice. I did some research and decided to go with AOMEI BACKUP.
