Downloading the 8.5.2 patch

Hi guys,

Anybody got any words of wisdom re the download upgrade to 8.5 PE?

I have a couple of issues:-

1) I've downloaded the Patch (described as 8.5.1 but labelled as Patch852). Instead of being able to run or install it I'm being asked to chose a program with which to open it. I'm not sure what to do from here on in :-(

2) I upgraded during the week that Amplitube 2 was being offered as a free inclusive incentive. I can't find any reference to it so far. Any idea what I'm supposed to be doing with this?

3) I've asked this one before in a different post without response so I don't expect too much in the way of answers, but on the off chance of somebody not having seen it I'll give it another whirl..........I have the PSP MixPack (version 1) it worked fine on the same OS before upgrading the DAW but I'm having no joy with re-instating it - any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

    Isn't the patch a self-extracing executable, e.g. "Producer852Patch.exe"? If Windows can't run it, I'd suspect that it may have been corrupted in the download.

    I just checked, and my copy is 390,108,152 bytes. See if yours is, too.

    I just checked the file size as I went to download it again - it says 372MB too.
    Is it possible that the link I've been given to download from is corrupted?

    I had the same issue. I had to login to "My Account" and bring up the sales record for your patch. In that screen there is a link preceeded by   "Your order includes electronic downloads. After your payment is processed you may download your files in the my account section or at this link:

    Click on the link. There will be a download page where you can acces the .exe file.

    Enjoy!

    Thanks Greg,

    I've been back to that page and re-downloaded the file a couple of times, still without success.

    Any further suggestions gratefully received!!

    If you think you have it and it is says to choose program, you don't have it and need to download again.

    Thanks 10Ten; I keep repeating the process (I'm probably on my fourth downloaded version at the mo'), any chance of there being something more fundamental at fault?

    Do you have issues downloading any other exe? Anti-virus maybe. Other than that if you have all of it, it should run.

    I think something somewhere is not happening. So far, seems like just this download.  :-(

    and do you still have SONAR 8.3 installed.

    These are both must haves before you can use the update patch

    I don't think it has anything to do with 8.x or anything being already installed, because he can't even run the patch. Windows is not recognizing it as an executable. That, plus the fact that the file is short 12MB, suggests strongly that it is a corrupt file.

    Maybe some kind soul in the UK would volunteer to burn the updates onto a CD for the guy...

    I know its isn't likely;
    Just clutching at straws when nothing else had worked so far.
    OOPS!

    In post #4 the OP says;
    "I just checked the file size as I went to download it again - it says 372MB too.". I thought he meant his file was the same size as yours. ie the correct size.
    On re-reading I see what size it should have been. Big numbers get me every time.

    I had same prob, and scratched my head for quite a while. Then...

    ...try renaming the downloaded patch to yourfilename.exe
    In other words, add the .exe on the end of your filename.

    Worked for me, hope it does for you.

    Ditto to what petec said.  I just upgraded to 8.5 and went in circles as you did with the patch.  After I added the *.exe to the end of the file it became an self extracting executable file.

    Makes sense that if the file doesn't have a .EXE extension that Windows won't know it's an executable file. I don't remember having to do that, but it was months ago. I had trouble this morning remembering the bass part I worked out last night.
