Drag & Drop EZDrummer Grooves in PRV

I can only drag & drop EZD MIDI grooves in Track View, I was under the impression that's it's possible to do this in PRV but it just doesn't happen. Is there a setting somewhere to enable D&D in PRV or am I mistaken?

I think the only place you can drag and drop MIDI data is in a MIDI track. The PRV will only let you manipulate (edit) the midi data that sin the MIDI track.

Thanks CJ, I open the EZD MIDI track in PRV, but D&D she no work. I might just post this over at ToonTrack's forum and see if it's possible.

Yea, , but i dont think you can drag and drop in the PRV. You can onyl do it in the track view within a MIDI track and thta is working for you.

    THAT'S CORRECT, CJ....

you drag the files onto the MIDI track.

it is linked to the audio track, that triggers the actual sounds.

you double click on the MIDI track, and that opens the PRV.

then, you can manually edit the loops inside the PRV, save, close, and that puts you back to the midi track.

once you've finished editing, you have the option of FREEZING the synth track, which effectively bounces all the midi data and triggered sounds to actual wave files, and turns the synth triggering off.
you get audio for each piece of kit (assuming you chose the multiple track out option) and it frees up the CPU from the drum work...

As CJ and Batsbrew have explained, the PRV is an editing environment for data which is already in the main view, the Track View.  The same logic applies to the Event List - You can't drag a MIDI clip into that view, because it's an editing environment that displays existing data.

I did a screen shot just now of how I work.  Try this, I think you'll like it:

--I always have the PRV docked, changing its size as needed throughout a project, and sitting above it is the track I'm working on.  Sometimes I need to grab clips in the time line as I'm working in the PRV - With both things visible all the time, there's no hassle going back and forth.

Something else that helps a lot is having the free Whiz Mouse - It adds functionality to your mouse so you can use the scroll wheel instantly, without having to click a window first.  That way, I can always quickly and easily scroll to the track I want to have visible above the PRV.

I appreciate all of your replies gentlemen, and Randy's method looks well worth investigating, I hadn't thought of that approach. I often feel the need to D&D a groove and immediately edit it to add/remove hits.

Incidentally, to date 5 hits and no responses over at ToonTracks Forum. I knew you guys wouldn't let me down.
