Drag clip to repeat

I have held ctrl, shift, windows key, alt, ad infinitum to no avail. I place my mouse cursor at the end of a clip. I want to drag it so it will repeat again and again. And I have done this before. I can enlarge the clip but the data inside doesn't repeat. What am I missing here? Thanks.

Found the answer. Do a ctrl - L and then you are able to drag it (after I closed Sonar 2 and reopened).

    Hi Chas,

Yes, that feature is called Groove clips. You can also right-click a clip and choose Groove-clip looping from the menu, but Ctrl+L is easier.

This feature works with both audio and MIDI clips. Plus, once you convert a audio clip into a Groove clip, it will automatically adjust to the project tempo.

Make sure your base clip is an exact number of measures long, otherwise the repeats won't line up correctly.

    8 beats + 8 beats + 8 beats.
if its 7.3 +7.3+7.3 youll end up with 21.9 rather than 24.

Also, the groove clip routine is fairly notorious for misinterpreting the beats in a clip.
For this reason, I like to right click on the clip, and open the groove clip screen.
If your selected clip is 8 measures in 4/4 time, you know you have 32 beats in the clip.
Check the Beats-in-Clip box. If it shows 32 beats, you are good to go.
More often than not, it will show something strange, like 27.
Change that to 32, and away you go.
You shouldn't have to restart Sonar to use this. That seems kind of odd.

Isn't something simple after you know how to do it?    Curl your hair when you can't find it. Thanks for all the replies.
