Drag 'n Drop Audio into Sonar with Everett - Solved

Hi Folks,
Ever since going to Everett I seem to have lost the ability to drag audio from outside Sonar into Sonar. I'm running as Administrator still, but it seems to have stopped working here. Anyone else seeing this?

Haven't tried this. There was an issue with MIDI doing this which is supposed to have been fixed with Everett.

I think this is a known Windows issue if you're talking about dragging audio from the desktop into SONAR. IIRC it's caused by running as Administrator...I'm sure someone here will remember the details. Of course you can always just use the Browser to navigate to the desktop, and drag in from the Browser. I made the desktop one of the options in the Browser drop-down menu to make this convenient.

You can't drag/drop into apps you're running as Administrator. Has to do with OS level permissions.

Sadly the previous two replies are spot-on... if you run as Admin you can't drag from folders or the desktop directly to a track in Sonar. Actually, there is a way to get it to work, but it requires major changes to the folder permissions, and you have to do it over ad over again if you make other changes to your directory tree.

Which is a problem, since there are some older plugins that don't work, or don't work properly if they are not running as admin.

In the end I decided I needed drag&drop more than I needed those older plugs, so I run as me now and it works.

Note that can drag out of SONAR onto the desktop. But really, the browser has become such a part of my workflow it would be more effort for me to use the desktop than the browser at this point.

Thanks for the help on this folks. I had somehow gotten it into my head that you had to run as Administrator in order to drag audio in. Clearly I managed to get it backwards somehow.

    Works great now.
    Thanks again,
    Dean
