Dragging wav files in Project the wav plays very low

Hi folks,

When i open a new songs with 1 empy audio track i see on the right side of the screen my browser with my wav guitar loops in it.
When i choose a nice guitar loop and will dragg it to the left on my audio track that's fine, butttt when i press play in Sonar X1 the wav file sounds very low and deep, not like the preview i heard in my browse windows on the right.

This happens with all my wav files i want to drag and drop in my project.

What could cause this slowing down and deep sounding wave file??

It sounds like they're importing at the project tempo, which stretches them and can cause all sorts of sonic difference.

Just a thought, but if you bounce the clip (right click clip -> bounce to clips) it may render better since the iZotope offline algorithm is much better.

Or you're auditioning on a different bus then your master.

    Just a couple thoughts.

    Cheers

the project tempo is the same as the preview ow another bus? i have no idea i thought that it's the same as the preview plays
I cann't bounce it because i have to drap and drop several wav files into my project (it's the basic of my song)

    Thanx !!!

I was just thinking that you have the option to stretch clips to project tempo. I think that's on by default. I don't use loops, so I'm not sure.

You should be able to bounce a single clip and then convert it to a groove clip if needed for looping.

When you preview a file, it plays at it's own sample rate and tempo. Once you drag it into Sonar it will be altered IF they are different. SO, if the wave file you are dragging in was recorded at 150 and you drag it into a 120 project, you will not have the same audio (wave file) anymore.

Mis-matched samples rates can cause this to happen as well. IF all of your loops are recorded at 44.1 then your project needs to be this as well.

I don't use loops either so I know of nothing that can "time stretch" without sounding like crap. IF a small enough stretch MAYBE there is a program that would work, but I don't know of any. IF I did use loops... I would only use proper ones in proper projects... ie, drum loop recorded at 150bmp goes into only projects recorded at 150bmp. IF I wanted a faster or slower song I would use a different loop... I wouldn't even bother trying to  mis-match.

Those are the only things that will cause what you are describing to happen. I JUST started using X1 yesterday though... so I am no guru on it. Maybe there is something with it causing this I am not aware of.

could it be that your wav-samples are of a different samplerate than your project setting ?
if your project is running at 44.1KHz and the samples are 48KHz and above, I could image some (pitch)issues. (although Sonar should handle the conversion)

I also have sometimes issues when switching to mono using the interleave button.. some combinations of plugins don't work very well and it results in a slowed- and pitched down playback.. but you said you are starting off with a new project, so that can't be it.

I've just tested it with some samples and an new project and I can confirm the problem. As long as the samples were not acidized [ctrl-L], they'd play back at normal speed. They started to behave very weird after making them loop.

After trying again and again the loops started to play as expected.. that's strange!
I'll have another look at this later..
