Dream feature for DAWs.... Seamless remote colaboration

Versioning and project locks while editing/tracking/mixing
Template/Channel/Plugin/Preferences synchronization
Review and Markup functions
 
I have been doing some work on a project with different people in many locations. This type of functionality built into a DAW would be EPIC!
 
http://usa.autodesk.com/buzzsaw/features/ is an example of this type of featureset.
 
Even better, I think its time to replace OMF and start a universal project format so that DAW lock in per project can be defeated..

    Yes, I believe incorporating a seamless collaboration system would be very rewarding... Many hurdles to get over and many concepts in need of some tral and error to find a comfortable set of options/settings...

    Maybe breaking this into a 2 step build would be easier? First "simply" making Sonar capable of enabling web based track updating so that 2 Sonar users coul collaborate on a project and automatically be sending updates to collaborators with every save? Maybe...

    A cross platform file system to replace OMF? I woul think that to require the inclusion of many manufacturers as did MIDI... And it's really not missing much as including plugins and such is impossible unless bth parties ave the plugin...

    More important to me would be the universal acceptance and more/better implementations in more DAW's

    Some good ideas tho...

    I think Bitwig's DAW is supposed to do this, and isn't OHMStudio supposed to be primarily that type of DAW?

    I agree about universal formats though. Probably impossible to do, but would be great.

    Cubase has this with VST Connect.  OhmStudio and BitWig both will do this when
    released.
