Dreamweaver

So, last night, I dreamed that I went to a nice restaraunt for dinner.  It was a little upscale for my tastes, but I went with it anyway.  The decor was lush and ornate, yet tasteful.  A light murmer of voices wafted through the dining areas.  Light poured slowly from candles and pooled on the floor.

I gave my order to the waiter.  He was the friendly sort - the one with whom you try to avoid eye contact in order to keep him at a distance.  There was something strange about him.  I couldn't be sure what it was.  It might have been the three mustaches.  I'm not sure.  While I waited, I thought I could faintly hear a soft Muzak version of Master of Puppets in the background.  At last my order arrived.  The waiter set the food down, picked up my fork, and took a bite.

In one part of my mind, I thought, "That's odd."

Another part spoke up and said, "Oh, That's Odd?  You didn't question the Master of Puppets thing, but this is odd?"

A third part gave them both mental wedgies and turned its attention back to the waiter.  He was now sitting across from me and thoroughly enjoying my meal.  He kept telling me how good it was and that I really should try it the next time I came there.  Finally, he ate the last bite of steak and pushed the empty plate away.

Another waiter appeared.  I'm not saying there was a puff of smoke, or anything, but this one popped in out of nowhere.  He cleared the table and asked my first waiter if he'd like some dessert.  The first waiter ordered something and the second man walked towards the kitchen.  By now, my stomach was really rumbling.  The first waiter told me how he was so full he couldn't have another bite, no matter how much I begged.

Before I could say that I hadn't asked him to eat my food, the second waiter appeared again.  This time, there was smoke.  It turns out, there was a fog machine nearby.  He pulled up another chair, and proceed to eat the dessert.  My stomach roiled and gurgled angrily.  The first waiter handed me a bill and they both thanked me for coming.  They then curtsied and the second waiter whacked me in the face with a large trout.

After I paid and left the restaraunt, I went to my office to sleep.  I don't think I'll go back to that dining establishment again.  Oh well, at least the service was good.

I thought that maybe it was just a dream, but when I woke up, I was still hungry.  That's odd.

Freud would say that your dream represents your own fears of inadequacy, and that the food represents your sense of control. The waiters represent the lack of control and impulsive nature (the ego), the smoke your inability to predict when you can assert said control (Id), which causes a further loosening of control (superego). I would say, however, you were simply hungry while you slept.

I did.  Since I knew it was a dream, I was very generous.  The bill was rather high, due to the nature of the restaraunt, but I left a huge 30% tip.  The service was excellent.

The problem is, I compared the dream credit card to my real card and found that the numbers match.  I don't trust the look I saw on that waiter's face when he took my card.  Now I'm worried that I may be the victim of Dream Identity Fraud.

I see ... that you should consider writing this is a similar thing like Queen's bit ... with fun music, great words, and on top of it ... humor!

The problem is what to call it ... but "dream dinner" just does not sound romantic and fun ... but it is surrealistic enough and you could always have a Christian Cross marked on that trout and that would give the whole thing even more "meaning" for an unsuspecting audience.

That's actually nice, and aside from your (lots of fun!) bits of humor, it's still a fun story to write music to ... ideas like that don't show up everyday, and even the CHB is too busy to enjoy such a great stream of consciousness discussing unconsciousness!

Funny, I dreamed I was a waiter and had an urge to eat a steak.

If this were a legit dream,it could possibly mean that you will have the opportunity to do well but unfortunately someone else will get the benefit. I hope I'm wrong on that one.

     I'm getting hungry now....
