Driftin'
I just upgraded from the V-studio 20 to Sonar 7xl. This is the 1st new song I've recorded with Sonar. Hope you like it. Comments welcomed and appreciated. Driftin'

Welcome Dan, I like the feel of this. I think you might be losing a little of the dynamics and tones from too much verb on the drums.

Hi Dan, Nice guitar playing! You might want to consider adding something ( another rhythm guitar? keyboard? ) to counter balance the rhythm guitar on the left. Kinda even things out a bit. Nice work overall, though.

Hi Dan , nice one, like the guitar tone and playing, reverb tail on the drums is a bit long, imho. Greetings, Rik

Hi Rick-Thanks for listening. I struggled trying to find the right amount of reverb for the drums. Nothing worked as well as I wanted. Hi GARY- Thanks for checking it out. The last few songs I worked on had more instruments than I usually record with. I wanted to keep this one less cluttered.Glad you liked it. Hi Rik- I'm still trying different reverbs and eq.This new program has a lot of new ways to eq. Glad you like the song. Dan

Really nice tune and great vibe going on here. I'll also have to say that the verb on the drums is a bit much. I would think that running them much drier would work if you add just a light room verb on the master bus. That way all the instruments would feel more like their in the same room. Other than that, when the guitar starts to solo, center it and bring it up a touch or drop the rhythm guitar to bring it upstage. All in all, I really like the tune and the performance.

Hi James - Thanks for listening and the advice. I just upgraded to Sonar and I'm knee deep in learning a new studio. I just tried adding reverb at the master on another recording and I really liked the results. I'm glad you liked the song.

Nice! At first I thought the reverb was over the top, but depending on the application/situation it would be a cool effect. this would be a cool tune for a movie theme or TV commercial background

Thanks Scott. Glad you liked it. I think it will help if I can come up with a suitable way to create good drum tracks.

Excellent piece. I love the guitar work, the driving bass and the overall moodiness of this piece. Totally agree with Janet - "nice chill"! Best Regards Malcolm

The mix is abit uneven. I would tone down the rhythym guitar a bit and widen it. Bring the bass up a bit, for this style need a more dominant bass. The lead needs to stand up, so maybe with reducing the rhythym guitar it will come up. I would also eq the rhythym to brighten it and reduce some of the mid-low frequencies to reduce the muddiness. I think the drums will be fine with these adjustments. Otherwise nice playing and nice smooth piece.
